Meet Sylvia Ann Soliz of Celebrity Pooch Mobile Dog Salon in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvia Ann Soliz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sylvia Ann. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Celebrity Pooch as a necessity. I needed a grooming service for our dog that would come out to our house. As a busy business woman, I don’t have a lot of time. We have a large dog and when I needed to take him to the groomer it was a full day’s event. It gave him anxiety and aggression when he saw other dogs and it also overwhelmed me trying to control him on a leash! Picking him up again at the end of the day, the same thing would happen all over again! Not only this, but with a mobile groomer, we didn’t have to leave our precious dog locked in a cage all day next to other dogs causing him more anxiety. Not to mention we didn’t have to get our car seats scratched nor have a smelly dog in our clean cars any longer! lol! This was a huge solution to a monthly problem. We only had one mobile dog groomer in my area and they were always booked and quite frankly I was never satisfied with their service. They treated the client with a “take it or leave it attitude.” They were always late for our appointments, they had a huge turnover in employment so you never knew who you were going to get or if they even did a good job on grooming! Later we found out they didn’t even have warm water for our dog! Imagine getting a cold shower in the winter! I reached out to several other companies and none of them serviced our area. I knew there was a great need for a great mobile dog grooming company and I felt the need to start one. I have no experience in grooming but I do know how to run a business. My background is in real estate and I was looking for more business opportunities so I researched this industry for about a year before fully committing to buying my first truck. Everything that I wanted from my personal mobile groomer I made sure to implement into this company. Not only is great service to our clients our main priority, we also make sure to give back to the animal world on a monthly basis. Last month we gave a full day of service to the Fort Bend Animal Shelter and tended to as many dogs as we could with baths and grooms. Of course we couldn’t tend to all of them. Our highlight that day was personally watching a dog that otherwise would not have been adopted, get adopted after we cleaned him off and removed all of his mated hair. It was such a joy to see that we could help these innocent dogs feel and look great after being neglected.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We are still a baby company only having launched in March. For me, learning the dog industry and the many types of breeds and cuts that each require takes an experienced groomer. I have found absolutely amazing groomers that meet the Celebrity Pooch requirements. We don’t just accept any groomer to our company. This, I feel might be our biggest struggle for future trucks coming soon. We want to make sure that each and every client is thoroughly happy with our service and not many groomers can provide the level that we expect for our clients.

Please tell us about Celebrity Pooch Mobile Dog Salon.
We are Celebrity Pooch Mobile Dog Salon! We come to your home in our fully sufficient trucks meaning we provide our own warm clean water, electricity, and will not drain dirty water all over your driveway. We treat your dogs to a full groom and bath with any upgrades the client chooses such as a specialty shampoo, conditioner, teeth cleaning, special haircuts etc. Many clients have told us that their pups cannot get groomed. Some have even told us that their dogs have to be sedated in order to have anybody work on them. I am proud to say, to date, we have been successful in all of the dogs that are “impossible to groom.” This comes again from the wonderful caring groomers that we are so particular in hiring.

We also do have another service that sets us apart from other dog groomers, and we offer this to our clients when we see their dogs have emotional or physical problems. We have a therapist that is an emotional/body code therapist and works on healing dogs in a non-conventional way and through a holistic approach. This approach is non-invasive and has healed so many dogs that have been abused in the past, aggressive dogs, even dogs with health issues have really benefited through this type of healing.

I believe what I am most proud of and what sets us apart is our dedication to giving back to animal organizations on a monthly basis. Whether this is through donating profits or giving our time to animal shelters and organizations helping dogs in need, this is what we see the most joy from.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I remember going on camping trips every summer to the Guadalupe River with my family. We always had such an amazing time floating the river! Getting out there and meeting new people taught me how to be more of an extrovert and to engage people in conversation and ultimately sales.

I’d like to thank God first and foremost for all of his blessings on my company.  My love, Joe Rothchild, for helping and encouraging me to take chances in what I believe in.  My mom, sisters, family and friends for the help and ideas on how to make the company even better!
