Meet Tassie Grantham of SassTass & The Pour Horse, Mobile Bar Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tassie Grantham.

Tassie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story is a rags to riches and proof that if you set your mind to it, you can do it.

I worked as a bartender for the past 14 years, 10 in California and 5 in Texas. In Texas, Bartenders make $2.13/hr plus minuscule tips and barely make enough to cover everyday bills. Even working in some of the best restaurants, I struggled to make ends meet. I decided to start up the business I had in California of private events on the side. I decided that I would open an online account to start getting small jobs and referrals. Once I had booked three months solid, I’d quit my job and go full time. I had $30 to start with and it grew to a staff of 5 from there.

After a year of gaining a steady amount of wedding & event work, I decided I was going to “up my game” so to speak. I was going to build a mobile bar. In my imagination, I wanted a horse trailer because… Texas. I bought a very old horse trailer and started renovations. I went through a few fabricators who just spent my money or took off and decided I was just going to do it myself and the one person I knew at the time that could build; my stepdad in CA, Robert McCall. He packed his tools and a friend and headed out to me. In a grueling six days, we finished the Pour Horse. Named by my then six years old (genius!) son, Joseph.

I got to work hustling to get product recognition out, no one had anything like it in the states so no one knew to search it! After six months, 24 publishing’s later, we were building a second bar to keep up with the demand.

We were starting to get noticed! Not just by local venues and vendors but national recognition. Now worldwide. We started getting daily emails and calls on people wanting me to design and build them bars! We are now in our second year of building and over 40 bars either designed or sold to folks across the states either expanding as I did or starting a new venture.

There are several things that separate us from the average fabricator. Most noted is our quality of craftsmanship and knowledge of functionality, something no other fabricator can duplicate. Second is we help teach branding, marketing, networking and provide our clients with a successful business starter kit. We walk them through contracts, pricing guides and introduce them to the best network of Mobile bar owners across the nation with Mobile Bev Pros. We want them to be as successful as we have been and make them their own boss.

My name is Tassie Grantham, I am the owner of SassTass & The Pour Horse, Mobile Bar Co. I came here to Texas, kicking butt, taking names and Making SIP Happen!

Has it been a smooth road?
We have had adversaries try and copy our work, competitors try and steal our ideas but in the end of the day, there are so many who back and support us in our endeavors that we could only fail if we were morally inept. We have paved the way and are lucky to call ourselves innovators and founders of the mobile bar industry.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with SassTass & The Pour Horse, Mobile Bar Co – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are most proud of how we separate “making money” and caring for our clients (and those who aren’t!). We don’t build for everyone. We are very picky with a selection process of who we build for. We only do two builds per metropolitan area so we want to work with those who understand this is not an easy job, it takes hustle and work ethic!

We now offer an array of rentals; our horse trailer bar, beverage trike, vintage scooter rental, vintage rental car, and a travel trailer photobooth. We are also building all types of mobile bars for people all across the US.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love everything about every part of Texas. It’s a mixing pot of every culture, every religion or non. We love everyone regardless of all but their inner beauty. This city has so much for the rest of the country to learn when it comes to sticking together and helping each other.
