Meet Michelle Gentry of Belle Art & Designs in Acres Home

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Gentry.

Michelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been drawing and painting since I can remember. Making art keeps me humble and young at heart. I enjoy finding beauty in nature, my family and life experiences. I am a proud, born and raised Houstonian and my desire is to express my love for my home through my artwork and designs. My passion for art lead me to study Fine Arts, and I earned my BFA in Digital Design in 2007. I am a creative professional. I love the process of creating designs and helping an idea materialize from a thought into an actual, tangle piece. My love for typography, graphic design, and arrangement of illustrative material is evident in my work. I hope to create bold, dynamic, functional, moving art and designs that make the world a more beautiful place.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
NO, it has NOT been an easy, and smooth road! AND to be completely transparent I am facing eviction right NOW. I have two sons that I gotta take care of. So to make ends meet, I have been going to labor ready halls hoping I’d get odd and end jobs that pay the same day or next day SO I can pay RENT. I have also gone out into the streets with my artwork. Literally, I have taking my artwork and a sign that I made around Houston posting up on properties, soliciting my work! So far, when I do this, everyone I meet is super supportive… Until the property manager or security comes and tells me no soliciting! Lol, I just laugh, pack up my work and move along.

Throughout this process, I have learned three powerful things.
1) My customers. I love the women my queen painting attracts. THESE WOMEN ARE QUEENS
2) Everybody will NOT support me. And that’s ok. SO NO need to cry about it!
3) I LOVE HUSTLING! I love the thought of MY success depends on ME GETTING OUT AND GETTING IT!!!

Belle Art & Designs – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I bring visions to life. I help ideas manifest into reality and I love the process! My goals AND intentions are to help entrepreneurs strengthening their brand by sharing information, sharing my experiences and knowledge.

I do this through art and designs.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To quote Winston Churchill, “Failure isn’t fatal, success isn’t final.” Success is my only state of mind. Success for ME means getting better and better every day.
