Today we’d like to introduce you to Karol Allen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
A life long love for capturing memories at various family events, vacations, and the likes helped develop a love for photography in me. Besides capturing the memories, I also wanted more quality in my photos. That led to the purchase of many disposable cameras all the way to 3 point and shoot cameras. Still not seeing the quality I was desiring, I did my research and made my first DSLR Nikon purchase. From there, I watched countless videos on how to properly operate my camera, various types of photography technique such as manual shooting, composition, and lighting, just to name a few. Shortly after, a friend approached me about taking photos at her mother’s birthday party, and I agreed. After being pleased with the outcome of the photos from the party, that lead to the birth of KLA Photography.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it’s been a smooth road, but that’s not to say there have not been any challenges along the way. My main struggle has been operating my photography business almost at a full-time status while maintaining a full-time job as a teacher and part-time adjunct instructor. Thankfully, I’ve been able to maintain.
KLA Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
KLA Photography is all about capturing a lifetime of memories. Before I embark upon any shoot, I always say a prayer for help to successfully capture the essence of the moment, be it a grad shoot, family shoot, or special event. I strive to make the time spent with clients memorable by being personable and down to earth. Some sessions even turn into therapy of some type for clients. This business is filled with a variety of outstanding photographers, so I want our time spent together to be what sets us apart from the others.
KLA Photography specializes in graduating seniors, families, individuals, maternity, parts weddings, or any other type of special event. What I am most proud of is when clients are so pleased with their first experience with KLA Photography, they return for more business.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far has been being contacted by your magazine.
