Meet Shantel Carter of Xodus Fitness Apparel in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantel Carter.

Shantel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for fitness but could never really pinpoint what route within the industry I wanted to take. I wanted to create a brand in which many people could relate to, and that’s the fitness journey itself. It’s a faith-based business, hence the name “Xodus Fitness Apparel.” I wanted to create a community that promoted body positivity as well as encourage everyone to embrace the stage they are within the journey.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road whatsoever! Learning my target audience at the same time researching and embracing the duties that come along with being an entrepreneur has made me realize there’s a lot I don’t know. Things such as merchandising, marketing, and ways to expand your network is a few of the many things I’m slowly but surely learning. I do still work full time and am in school, so time management has really become my best friend.

Xodus Fitness Apparel – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is a faith-based online fitness apparel store. We provide quality apparel and accessories for every stage of your fitness journey. We are known for our quality and affordable waist trainers, as well as our customer service and fast shipping process. What I’m most proud of about my business is the way that I’ve incorporated my faith into the brand (the meaning behind the name). I’m proud of the fact that with no prior experience in the entrepreneurship world, I am steadily seeing my brand grow. What sets us apart from others is the reason why the brand was created, as well as who is the CEO (which is God) I’m just managing the business, he’s in complete control. Another thing that sets us apart is our customer service and how it’s our duty to make sure that every customer interaction/experience is unmatched.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
One of the proudest moments in my career thus far has been the opportunity to sponsor the Nex Pro League dancers with our waist trainers. It was an opportunity that I did not expect to receive. It just reminds me that God can open doors no man can close, and close doors no man can open.
