Thanks for sharing your story with us Lindsey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in the third ward community my entire life and after high school I attended college in Eugene, OR and it was a total culture shock. I struggled with seeing the lack of representation of black people in Oregon, but I was able to see the power of small businesses in my college community and I reflected on how I could bring some of their practices to my community back home. Naturally, I am creative and have a desire to be in a need-based field, and my only was goal was to figure out how I can assist black people on their journey to wealth and self-sufficiency. It is not unheard of for black people to be the lowest on the totem pole in terms of education, and in the workplace and I found a niche that would help my community and small businesses around the country. I started my company, Successful Promotions in 2015 creating logos and other start business needs for only $5! I wanted to help others create a solid foundation for their business, starting with brand identity and legitimate resources, such as a dba, or LLC. I have now designed over 1,000 logos, flyers, business plans, and other necessary business tools to ensure my client’s success.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles I faced as many entrepreneurs can probably relate was and still is being every part of my company. As a one-man show, I am the receptionist, the designer, the lawyer, the accountant, and everything else. I am a full-time mom and I work a 9 to 5. But for the most part, I enjoy learning new things about how business can work, its more than one way to do it and I try to hold my clients accountable for the success they achieve. If you aren’t working, you aren’t growing.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is having a responsibility-free life, with no bills, or expectations, just pure freedom. LOL
