Meet Sylvester Agbahiwe of S.O.A. Digital Imaging in Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvester Agbahiwe.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sylvester. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been into taking photos but I never envisioned that what was once a childhood hobby, would blossom into what it has today. One year (several years ago), I said this would be the year I take my photography seriously. So for Black Friday, I went out and bought a “real camera.” At the time, I thought was all I needed. One of my brothers is a lawyer so I got him to create an LLC and that began what is S.O.A. Digital Imaging as we know it today. I started off shooting friends and family for free, trying to get better professionally while also getting my name out there. I sought help from a well known Houston Photographer/Videographer named Henry Adegbite, who helped me with not only photography equipment etc. but also the business side of things. Quickly I figured out that my “real camera’ was actually quite limiting once I actually knew what I was doing. After a while, I started charging a little here and there and I would use that money to eventually buy better equipment. Before I knew it, I started getting inquiries from referrals and everything took off from there.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Have you ever heard the quote “if it were easy, everyone would do it?” Well that pretty much sums up what any entrepreneur going into business for themselves will tell you. I’ve definitely had my struggles along the way, any creative who hasn’t is probably lying to you. From getting taken advantage of, to self-doubt; not knowing if your work is good enough, to dealing with difficult clientele; it all can be a challenge. Through it all, I’ve persisted and I’m definitely happy with the journey that I’ve traveled thus far. Barack Obama said “making your mark on the world is hard…it takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way.” I couldn’t agree more; the road has not been easy but it has definitely been worth it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with S.O.A. Digital Imaging – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
S.O.A. Digital Imaging is a digital media company with a collective of creatives and extremely motivated individuals who are dedicated to telling a story through picture and film. From small family portraits to full-blown corporate advertising, the attention to detail and dedication doesn’t waver. Each and every person is treated with an individually tailored approach to capture who you are as an individual or bring to light what your company stands for while achieving a quality that is intrinsically timeless. From small businesses to the likes of ExxonMobil and NRL Mortgage, we’ve worked with them and continue to grow.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The future for S.O.A. Digital Imaging is growth and expansion. There are a couple of big projects we got lined up this year that I’m hoping can catapult the company into another realm. The future looks bright.
