Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Thompson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a kid, I always had a passion for music, I grew up listening to many different genres (Eminem, Don Williams, Chris LeDoux, Linkin Park, Three days grace, DMX, Xzibit, Tupac, Brokencyde, Metallica, N.W.A., Ice Cube.. etc.) were my favorites that I attempted to get on my CD player. I would play rockband regularly, I even wrote my first rap at nine years old. I had had a hard day at school and my older brother (at the time was in a screamo band) told me to write something, and to “make it rhyme.” It was more of a poetic expression than an actual song but nonetheless, it crafted me and my style. I never really considered being a “rapper” until I turned 18. Enough close friends and family had heard my poems, my raps, and had told me I really had a gift worth sharing. I recorded my first single (A.B.S.G. prod. Brandon Mcbride) and began my career. Since then, I’ve released an additional 4 singles (I.D.G.A.F., F.T.I., B.H.B., and SKRRT SKRRT) each one marking another stepping stone in my journey as an artist while conveying the path I must walk on to get there. Anything in my raps is something I have experienced first hand or had been witness to. Now, at 21, my debut EP “InCoGnito Mode” is set to release July 19th on all major streaming platforms. I appreciate any and every amount of support I encounter, Much Love.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Apart from financial problems, situational living, and lost relationships; my biggest struggle is my health. Nonetheless, it is all in good faith. Romans 8:28
Please tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I think what sets me apart is my ability to accurately explain my surroundings and situations in a complex rhyme schemed format. My following is bigger than local, ranging from cities to states to other countries. I don’t only work on my music, I often try to help other artists and influences gain in their own way too. There’s a select group I’m currently working with to help develop their images in the most professional format possible, from setting up photoshoots to aligning projection based on analytics, we’re working on positive retention based formula to grow careers. Most of my work is behind the scenes, hence “InCoGnito Mode” and my goal is to one day watch us all shine.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
