Today we’d like to introduce you to Tailor Isaac.
Tailor, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m pretty much your typical southern gal who fell in love, moved in our dream home and decided to have kids. But even after the “American Dream” goals were accomplished, it wasn’t until after I became a mother where I began to embrace and appreciate more in life. I hope I don’t sound too cliché, but walking in motherhood, gave me a true sense of purpose and more strength to find the true “Tailor”. While being pregnant I was the prego lady who would sit on my couch to research everything but I guess I did not do enough research on the “after” post-baby. After having my daughter, I did not know about the post-partum depression, the hair loss, the complete 180 body changes. What got me through post-partum was joining mother/mom groups, reading other stories of moms. So, my goal is to share more light on the new upcoming mothers or expecting new moms. It’s weird because you get so much advice for your baby, but you rarely hear of those moments of crying for no exact reason in the shower. I do not want to take away the beautiful moments of bearing and having a child but I do feel that some moms just need a simple story to hear that they are not in this alone.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was not a smooth road, BUT… IT… GETS… BETTER!
My body, of course, went through a roller coaster of changes, my marriage went from best friends to “Frenemies”, and of course, I went through my own personal challenges. I would question myself a lot if some of the mother options I chose to do was right. I’m breastfeeding but is she getting enough? So many people are against co-sleeping should I just do with what they say?
There is a light to the end of the tunnel. As time goes and you began to trust yourself more and block out the nay-sayers and just be the best mother you can be.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Mommy Blog! My blog is a platform where I share my experiences and being mother, wife, sister daughter all of the above. I realized that I set the tone of speaking on the mom experiences that isn’t really talked about. I’ve had so many women open up to me to share that they went through a bump in their marriage as well when the baby first came.
There are a lot of GREAT bloggers out there and I think what specializes me from them is my connection with my followers are majority locally. Houston, Dallas, Austin. I’m pretty sure I’ve met at least 12 new mom here in HOUSTON just by social media in a YEAR! Sounds weird, I know. However, it makes me proud to hear the feedback I get from new or expectant new moms who appreciate and value my stories.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I remember sitting on the couch and showing my husband a story a lady shared with me, and the first words that came out of his mouth were “Keep going.” Hey! If can help or touch two mothers, I simply happy with that cause I now know there are two people less out there knowing that they are not alone.
