Star Montessori School and Day Care (established in 1988) provides daycare, childcare, prek, kindergarten, and after school care to children in Pasadena, Deer Park, and La Porte areas. In the 1970’s, Yasmin Hussain was a teacher at the Montessori School of Downtown. She believed that providing a blending curriculum with conventional Montessori education along with a structured curriculum allowed children to grow and thrive. In the 80’s she finally decided to open up Star Montessori School and Day care which now educates over 300 students during the year. We pride ourselves on our security, education, and going above and beyond to provide the best for children’s needs at our school. We commit ourselves to our children’s safety by providing long tenured teachers, a highly secured facility with video cameras and emergency exits in every room. Our Montessori education has been proven for over two decades with our children exceeding expectations once they graduate from our program. Our Programs are from 18 months – 12 years of age. We also offer after-school care for children in nearby elementary schools. Lastly, our day care center is designed to suit our children. Our student-to-teacher ratio surpasses state requirements because we believe that attention to children is crucial.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There is always challenges to any business you run. The most important part is to have the persistence to break through any issues you may have. Because we were fully committed to the vision of providing the best education for a quality price to our students we persevered through any roadblocks.

We are most proud of playing such an integral role in children’s development. It brightens our day to see our student’s go on to succeed in their further education because of the strong foundation we provided them.
We believe not only does our curriculum set us apart but we truly believe we have the best teachers! Over half of our 45 employees have been with Star Montessori for over 10 years. We couldn’t have done it without them!
