Meet Prince Woodard of DaCubanPrince in Southeast Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Prince Woodard.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Prince. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started back in college where I attended Prairie View A&M University where I was a full-time athlete, full-time student, and working full time at Walmart. I was always into fashion and had a unique style but instead of being in the limelight of the camera, I decided to start my own photography business called PhenessPhotography. While doing that from the end of 2010-2014, I would always get asked to be a model for fashion shows and/or take pictures for different clothing designers, even by my mother and friends but I would always turn them down because I loved being behind the camera instead of the front. Well fast-forward to 2018, I got asked to be a model/brand ambassador for some clothing designers on Instagram and I finally decided to accept the role.

I then went to do my first photoshoot for the designer and I fell in love with being in front of the camera all of the sudden! Next thing I know I was being involved in different fashion shows and being a brand ambassador for multiple different clothing designers on Instagram and here in Houston, TX. Now DaCubanPrince has been a brand I’ve been growing for over a year now and it’s just the beginning for myself in the modeling industry. I am now with Neal Hamil Modeling Agency and the journey continues to look brighter each day, with each shoot, and each fashion show while my ultimate goal is to be a world-known model and walk in the biggest fashion shows, do the greatest commercial shoots, and have the best portfolio the world has ever seen.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road for me when it comes to modeling. I think it is because I came into the modeling world alone and without any kind of knowledge on how to get started, what to expect, nor did I have the proper training at the time to make myself well qualified to deal with the bigger designers, fashion shows, and photographers. It took a lot, and I do mean ALOT, of trial and errors through my journey and a lot of test photoshoots and long hours of studying and going to get proper professional training on how to be a “model” before I became what I am today. I’ve been scammed out of money, had terrible photoshoots before, shot with bad photographers, and even not received my photos that I shot before. But honestly, I’m glad I went through what I have because it has enabled me to learn how to alleviate those problems and become a lot better at marketing and networking to be the model I am today. There is no lesson greater learned than the one you actually experienced yourself.

Please tell us about DaCubanPrince.
My model brand is DaCubanPrince. I am a model who specializes in Portrait Photography, Urban wear, High fashion, tattoo photography, commercial photography and fashion shows. I first got started and known from my Instagram page because of my photos that showed my body off with certain shoots that I had done and with the different types of clothing ensembles I would put together to take a photoshoot in. I am most proud of my brand becoming a lot more known then when I first started modeling. I feel as if the hardest thing about building your brand is the networking part and getting people to actually see that you have something great to show them and with me being so raw when I was first starting and not knowing how to get into the modeling world, I just feel that the exposure that I’m not starting to be able to accomplish is amazing.

Some things that sets me apart from the other models would have to first be my tattoos. They are apart of my life story and I’m not afraid to show them off and a lot of my fans seems to enjoy them as well. But in my opinion the main thing that sets me apart is that I’m not this “image” that seems like you can never speak to. I am a “normal guy”. I interact with people and I go on live and show people I do regular things just like any other guy. I do my best to stay humble and know that just as God has brought me this far, it’s my job to do the best I can to help someone else who might want to follow the Modeling path as well.………..and of course my looks don’t hurt the situation as well lol.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started A LOT SOONER!!! Honestly, that’s the only thing I wish I would have done if I could go back in time because everything I did wrong helped me learn certain lessons that are priceless to me. But the procrastination of not doing it made it harder for me and now I have to pursue my dreams of becoming a world-known model and making this my main source of income, instead of being already known as such and having modeling be my full-time job.
