Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Wilson.
Andrea, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Welcome to the Motherhood is a Social Club for Moms, and also those who desire to be… I created this club because I knew that there were many women out there just like me, who wants better for themselves and their children, who are hard on themselves and always putting their children first. At some point, we have to take a step back and take care of ourselves for just a moment, just like we take care of everyone else because naturally, that’s who we are (caregivers). When I first became a mom my son was celebrated but I was a disappointment so I wasn’t, I was not able to enjoy or experience motherhood properly because I was young, uneducated, and unprepared. Physically, I was prepared. He had clothes, diapers, formula, cribs, all the things a baby boy would need. But mentally, I was not prepared, which could result in failure because I believe success in anything you do requires hard work, dedication, and preparation. So, even though I was dedicated to my son and worked hard at motherhood, I was not prepared so I did not always make meaningful decisions. Now, many years later, I am the mom of four boys and have grown tremendously, yet still growing in Motherhood. Which is why I started this club, I believe I have the tools many women like myself need to be successful in this “hood”. We all have so much we can learn from each other at the meaningful events I create and host, they are affordable and available to every and anyone. The information shared is not based off what I think I know or may or may not believe, the information is valid and based off real-life experiences I have experienced as a mother. At the end of the day, Motherhood is very important to me, it is my day to day, minute to minute, every day all day job that I would not trade for anything in the world. Although it is a tough job, it is the most rewarding giving back to all the teen moms, single moms, hard-working moms etc is fulfilling to me because I am able to share the knowledge I have grown to have.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I said before, I started Motherhood in my teenage years. Became married at a young age, later on, divorced, then became a single mom. Being a single mom is HARD! The strongest women alive are single moms! There is no one to depend but you. Groceries on you, doctors appointments on you, barbershop, beauty shop, you, sports activities also on you. Everything is on you! And you can’t do anything but smile and roll with the punches. Even though that was not what I imagined for my life, at that point, I never lost control. I worked hard, went to school, never missed a meeting or social event for my children and continued to make things happen.
Welcome to the Motherhood – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is a social club for moms, it is basically a created safe space for moms to come and just be themselves. The woman and not the mom or wife for that moment. They are able to meet new women, network, give advice freely, receive advice, discuss what works and what doesn’t in mothership. It is a no-judgment zone. It is fairly new, I hope to be known for empowering moms everywhere in whatever. I hope to be known as an influencer who pushes moms and women to their full potential. I am proud that I was brave enough to start the business. I think the fact that I believe in what I am basically selling and know it first-hand sets my business aside from the rest.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was when I sold my very first ticket to my very first event!
