Elizabeth and William, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After having moved their own family six times, as well as transitioning senior relatives from large homes to smaller homes and apartments, the Wood family felt that there must be a better way to move. Juggling little ones in the middle of a move, and trying to maneuver the emotions of transitions was made harder by dealing with the mounds of boxes leftover after the unpacking process was finally finished. They found a better way to move with plastic, stackable rolling moving crates, and so Clean Moving Crates was formed.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being an entrepreneur has its challenges, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are both very hard workers, and we wanted to see all of our efforts going into something built for our family. With both of us coming from corporate jobs, one of our biggest challenges has been learning to drive our big delivery truck in Houston traffic. Another challenge is finding the work/life balance as a husband and wife team. We complement each other very well in the business, with each of us having very different strengths and weaknesses. But it’s learning to turn off the business at night that becomes the challenge. We’re learning to set boundaries, and we’ve designated times for just family and fun to make sure we find balance for our family.
