Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Fields.
Hailey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
At the early age of five, I began acting and modeling as a way to keep busy with dealing with my ADHD. After years of modeling and acting, I was informed by my pediatrician that I wouldn’t grow passed 5’3 which was short to be a runway model. So, I began to focus more on acting but I wasn’t getting as many jobs as I wanted and decided I wanted a back-up plan to my career. Therefore, I decided I wanted to create my own cosmetic lip line because I love make-up so much. After convincing my mother, I began making glosses at home in different colors and through consultations, I chose to get manufacture to create my lip glosses and lipsticks based on the colors that I came up with. That was when Hailey Kisses was created. I launched on October 15, 2016. When I launched, Mayor Turner gave me my own day in Houston entitled Hailey Fields Day on October 15th. I currently have a total of 23 different colors and products on my cosmetic line and it continues to grow with the addition of colors and products each year.
I started my non-profit Covered By The Blood, Inc in 2017 to bring awareness to Sickle Cell Anemia. I was motivated and inspired to start the non-profit due to watching my Granny suffer from this disease and wanting to help. Through my non-profit, I have blood drives, informative summits, toy drives, fundraisers and more to benefit the Sickle Cell community. I released my first book on June 19, 2019, World Sickle Cell Day entitled Hailey & Gale Journey Through Sickle Cell.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road because it becomes challenging to balance my business, non-profit, school, and social life. Sometimes, I make the wrong decisions when I prioritize because I like to socialize with my friends at times and not put enough time into my commitments with my business and it shows during those times.
Please tell us about Hailey Kisses and Covered By The Blood.
Hailey Kisses is a cosmetic lip line with 23 different colors and products including lip gloss, luminous lip gloss, liquid lipsticks, matte lipsticks, metallic lipsticks, mood lipsticks, and a vitamin c moisturizing lip treatment. I’m proud of the fact that I continue to grow each year with my line and not only is it for adults it is for children. What sets me apart from others is that I am a kid/teen that run this business and believe that my products are of the same quality as the “big name” competitors.
Covered By The Blood, Inc specializes in to bring awareness to Sickle Cell Anemia throughout different communities. I am most proud of my book and how I honor my Granny through my organization and book. What sets my non-profit for Sickle Cell Anemia apart from other non-profits is that it was established by a child/teen.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory are all the memories that I have of spending time with my deceased Granny before she died. Just the mere fact that my Granny could see me launch my business, witness me receive my day in Houston by the Mayor and honor her with my non-profit before her demise.
