Today we’d like to introduce you to Roscoe Hillis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When life put me in a difficult situation, that made me start my “Adult life” at the very young age of 13, it seemed nearly impossible for me to look at myself living past the age of 25 years.
I was born in Matamoros Tamaulipas, Mexico and later brought to Houston, Texas at the age of six. My sister and I were raised by a single mother who gave us all she could through her hard work and dedication. It was until that one night 16 years ago that I received the worst news a 13-year-old could ever receive which was that my mother was murdered.
The years after were faced with difficult situations of not having a home, no parents to look after me and even sometimes not having enough money to buy groceries. Through all these situations, I always kept my eyes on God and He always managed to show me that He was with me. Now, here I am at the age of 30, still alive and better than what I could have imagined all by His love & grace.
Through my tough young adulthood years, I had to find ways to make a living and construction was one of my strengths. I was able to learn the hands-on aspect to it which I loved but the best part to me was working with the customers. As a bilingual person, I was able to help a lot of my employers translate and be the liaison between the customer and the workers.
I also had the opportunity to work in a car dealership where I was able to learn my sales skills and continue to build my customer service skills. After a few years of working in a car dealership, I realized the God had more for my family and me.
I had the privilege of marrying my beautiful wife, Heydy Hillis, at the age of 20 and now, we have our own family of four which consists of Santiago age five & Tatiana age three.
On July 17, 2017, my family took a leap of faith and decided to trust in God by becoming business owners of an established flooring store in the Sugar Land area that has been in place for 25 years. It has been a field that I have worked in for years and putting my skillset of “hands-on” and customer service was an exciting journey for me. So far, this has been a journey that my family and I have enjoyed every single step of the way.
We currently live in the Sugar Land area and our passion is to provide exemplary customer service as well as the best flooring job to every single customer that comes to our store.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a business owner, it is hard to find employees that are as committed as we are in providing the best customer service to our clients. I had to make some tough calls in letting employees go at the beginning because my goal was to build Floors N More as the best company with the best customer service. All I can say now that the obstacles have been conquered and I would not be where I am now without my team.

Floors N More is a locally owned flooring store that specializes in flooring, carpet, wood floors and tile. We are known for being a one-stop-shop where you are able to get your flooring needs, countertops, granite, Quartz bathroom upgrades, backsplash and even painting done with one company. I believe what sets us apart from any other flooring store is our goal to provide the best customer service by ensuring that your flooring or project is handled to the best of our care.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Every obstacle and challenge I have faced has only made me stronger as a business owner but the one thing that I would have liked to focus on more was thanking God for every single aspect of this journey good or bad. He has been my rock and supporter from day one.
