Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Vitti.
Daniel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ii was born on June 27, 1980, in Rio Claro, Brazil. I started training Shotokan Karate at a young age of seven and continued throughout my adolescence for 11 years. During this time, I competed in various tournaments, ultimately becoming a National Champion.
Once out of high school, I focused on my studies and graduated from Universidade Federal de Goais in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
I started Brazilian Jiu-jitsu with Gracie Barra in 2005 under Mestre Frederico Pimentel and was awarded my black belt by Mestre Frederico in 2013. In 2014, Gracie Barra Goiania Premium was established by Prof. Miogre Tavares and myself. Being a partner in the school, the amount of time I was exposed to jiu-jitsu naturally increased. I eventually decided to leave my career as a civil engineer and in Oct 2017, moved to Katy, TX to start Gracie Barra Fulshear. We opened our door for business on June 2018.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
– Deciding to move to another country leaving family and friends behind.
– Dealing with contractors during the construction of the school.
Tell us about your business. What do you do, what do you specialize in?
Gracie Barra Fulshear is a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Self-Defense school run by our whole family. Daniel is our head professor. Michele, wife, and mother, along with children, Danielle, 19 and Noah, 13 help coach the children’s classes. Nika, 10 participates in Junior’s classes and Lars, 3 will be starting class next year.
We are proud of the culture we have at our school. The camaraderie on the mat is apparent and everyone is really respectful. We’ve created a nourishing, family-friendly environment where children and adults can learn this beautiful art. We pride ourselves in the top-level quality instruction and attention we give to our students.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
