Meet Olivia Acosta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Acosta.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I first started making music with my best friend, Austin Havis. One night in September 2018, we were sitting in his room and decided to make a song together. From that point, I knew I loved to make music and wanted to pursue it. So I started to write and make music of my own. I’ve released a few singles this year and now I’m finally releasing an EP, Daisy!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think I’m still going through growing pains of making music, but I’m really starting to understand the beautiful technicalities of it. I’ve always been strong in writing, but that’s only half the battle. Producing and mixing music is more difficult than it seems, but I’m learning! Growing in my sound is such an exciting process. My new EP, Daisy, was so much fun to create while learning more about producing! Daisy had a lot of challenges with mixing, but eventually all the songs became so special to me that all the past struggles didn’t matter. All that mattered was that I made something beautiful.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I make music from my bedroom! I think what sets me apart is always shaking it up. I make electronic- type music along with an alternative twist. I also like to make a nice acoustic songs as well. I love to try anything and get creative when I make music. I’m most proud of my writing and I’m really looking forward to expanding my sound!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think staying in touch with my emotions while writing and producing is the best path. Even when I might feel uninspired sometimes, I am always finding inspiration through pieces of art and music and end up going right back to making songs! I also think having such amazing support around me from my friends and family, to my followers on social media is so amazing. I love to hear feedback from others about my music, it encourages me to make more music. I love hearing new music as well! It always helps to hear a good song.
