Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierra Kuykendall.
Kierra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Where to begin? I am full of experiences from the absolute best to this would be great movie material. I come from a small family who was raised by the strongest woman I know. She showed me what it meant to be strong, even when you feel defeated. My brothers and I are poster children for not letting life experiences define us and that is something I remind myself of every day. But for the most part, I am just a Texas woman just trying to keep it trill.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Define smooth… No one has a smooth path but I surely have not stayed on the beaten path. I am all about breaking generational curses and I have made sure I am contributing to that.
Please tell us about Kierra Kaye Makeup.
Kierra Kaye Makeup is the product of my childhood dreams. I have always loved makeup and anything beauty related! I used to do hair and makeup for all of my best friends growing up and I even made some very questionable eyebrow statements myself. My company is a hair and makeup service provider for personal events, bridal parties, runway shows, photoshoots, etc. I pride my work for being a natural masterpiece. I can do your beat down, drag show makeup with ease but I prefer to make a woman look like their best updated version. This company has opened so many doors for me and taught me so much as to who I am as an artist. I worked with many Houston socialites, countless photo-shoots, and even was the head makeup artist for two large fashion shows here in Houston. I absolutely love it!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
It would have to be growing up with the best grandparents in the world! My grandmother Leveta, she made sure I stayed looking my best and with the prettiest bows. I firmly believe she created the mini diva who lives inside me and has been my guardian angel through all of this. I just remember watching her put on her makeup with such grace and pose, she was so beautiful.
