Today we’d like to introduce you to Darren Edwards.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Darren. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey began in Tomball, Texas on a farm surrounded by family. When you hear the old saying “it takes a Village”, this was a huge part of my life. I remember feeding the animals, being taught how to care for and grow the vegetables and fruit in the garden. It helped me to appreciate God’s creations.
My passion for cooking started years ago watching my Grandmother prepare meals from scratch. My fondest memory is coming home from school excited to learn what we’re making for dinner. I recall those family meals prepared with love every Sunday after church we’re magical.
After high school, I knew exactly what I wanted out of life and that was to work in the hospitality industry and one day to become a Chef. I gained my knowledge of catering and sales by waiting tables, bartending and management.
I later felt it was time to step out on my own, Elite Catering By Darren was born. It was rough in the beginning but with the support of my family, friends and a wonderful team we built a successful business.
Looking back, those memories with my grandmother and mom cooking large meals along with the “Village” of aunts and uncles helped me through my daily duties as a Chef and Caterer. I’ve been given many gifts in life from others in the industry, I continue to observe and learn. But most of all I’m thankful to those who encouraged and believed in me, which helped me to accomplish my goals in life.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a catering company in a large city like Houston had its challenges. We learned to make the perfect lemonade out of a lot of bad lemons we encountered in our journey. Location was also a struggle, finally settling in The Houston Heights near Downtown. Which provide great access to major freeways inside and outside of the loop to serve our clients.

Elite Catering By Darren full-service catering company. Our menu is very verse with local flavors to international cuisine. We also offer fully prepared meal plan and delivery service which has been very popular. I’m most proud of the growth of the company, the lessons I’ve learned throughout the years and my amazing team.

Absolutely! Because of our diverse communities, the consistent growth and love we all have for our city, definitely make Houston one of the best cities for the foodservice industry. There’s a place here for everyone, if you have a huge passion for food, love meeting and making people happy, what a great place to be!
