Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Winston Faltine.
Dr. Faltine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in a family of dentist, my mother was a dentist. Soon after she received her dental degree I was born. She often jokes that when I graduated from dental school I was actually receiving a dental diploma for the second time. Seeing her dedication, commitment and passion for dentistry and to help others in our community inspired me to do exactly the same. What I love more about dentistry is the opportunity it gives me to be able to touch other people’s lives whether it is by relieving their pain, helping them gain confidence in their smiles with cosmetic dentistry or just simply by being there to listen and help anyway I can.
I certainly hope to be able to impact and serve my community just like my mother did and take care of our patients like they were family.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a first generation immigrant, my path to becoming a dentist has not been a smooth road. Leaving family and friends as a teenager and arriving to a new country not knowing English was definitely a scary feeling. With the support of my parents and siblings, I was able to overcome many obstacles throughout my early years. Despite of having to work 2 jobs while still attending school full time, I was able to excel academically and continue on my path of becoming a dentist. I am very thankful for the support of many mentors, family and wife for the success I have been blessed with.

– My soulmate, college sweetheart and now wife – Jessica. I would not be where I am today without the constant support and encouragement from my wife. She stood up with me through college and dental school always believing in me and doing whatever she could to see me succeed.
– My parents – My father and mother have been my biggest supporters. They have always try to instill in me good behavior and ethics. They have made many sacrifices to help me succeed and have shown me through their actions the meaning of hard work. Always reminding me to never to give up and follow my dreams.
– My family in law.
Ever since I can remember, my family in law has cheer me up and supported me with their love and care. They have always treated me as part of the family even years before my wife and I got married. Special thanks to my mother in law for all the love and great meals she has forever cook for me to make my old schools days and work routine easier.
