Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabe Hernandez.
Gabe, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was inspired by a local photographer here in San Antonio, Texas. He went on the main highway in the middle of a very foggy night and stopped by the airport where all the ramp and bridges intertwine with each other and he took a photo and posted it on twitter that same night. I saw that photo and got so inspired that I bought a camera. All of this happened back in 2015 and ever since I’ve been taking photos. The way I got to the spot that I’m at now is thanks to all of my friend and family for always pushing me to do my best, and the people that I’ve met through Instagram and twitter without them I wouldn’t be what I am now!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, I feel like nothing really is smooth. I go through multiple creative blocks and I’m really hard on myself when it comes to my craft but I don’t let it stop me. My biggest obstacle was on how I was going to master the style of editing that I was going for, usually I go for a realistic style in my photos.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a freelance photographer I do fashion, portraits and BTS type of photoshoots. I specialize more in portraits and thats what I’m known for in my city. I am very proud of my progress as a photographer but also as a human. What sets me apart from other photographers here in my city is my pop of color in my photos and also the quality of the photo.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success as achieving any type of goal, whether it’s big or small. You still achieved it, right? You succeeded. After that, you continue to set goals for yourself and go on from there.
