Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Wright and Alesia Woolridge.
Patrick and Alesia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We’re entrepreneurs at heart. Always looking for a good opportunity. We chose the Columbus area because we saw a hole that we could fill. There were no beauty supply stores within a 40 mile radius and no stores in general that stocked beauty products for women of color. Our store, Touch of Oshun, addresses this lack.
Has it been a smooth road?
LOL!!! No. This venture had a steep learning curve for us. We kind of jumped into the deep end of the pool without floaties. We literally built our store from the ground up. We’ve learned so much about city codes, permits, and carpentry. There were setbacks and deadlines missed but it was a labor of love. We enjoyed being so hands on in bringing it to life.

Touch of Oshun is a beauty supply store that caters to women of color. We felt it necessary to concentrate on that particular niche of the industry because it is so underserved in this area. We are most proud of how we’ve become not only a part of the Columbus community but a part of the surrounding communities as well.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would research and plan more carefully. I can’t stress enough how important business and marketing plans are. Plan plan plan then makes plans for your plans.
