JaLacia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For as long as I can remember, travel has been a part of my life. As a child, I traveled extensively throughout the South and to other destinations for family vacations full of education with my parents. Even in school, I had the opportunity to travel for student competitions and conferences.
Later I took full advantage of studying abroad as an Undergraduate. First, earning a scholarship to immerse with the culture in Ghana, Africa and then the following year in Paris, France. These trips earned me my first visa and passport. I later also studied in China while obtaining a Master of International Business. The idea of sharing my travel experiences lead me to become a Blogger. Although I loved the people I met and things I learned as a result of the blog, “My Nomadic Habit”, I decided to take a break away from it and stumbled upon being a Travel Agent instead. Today, I help others with their travel requests and those with similar passions become Travel Agents as well.
I’ve learned SO MUCH as a Travel Agent of Pack Your Bags. I’m over the moon about the trips I’ve planned and the growing number of happy clients. I can not wait to see what’s next as business continues. I look forward to helping people create memories around the world that will last a lifetime.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Although I love what I do, it is not always easy to balance other areas in my life. In being a business owner, there’s often late nights after finishing a day at my full-time job and spending quality time with my toddler. When I first became a Travel Agent, I worried about retrieving clients. Now that I have established clients, planning has been able to improve.
Please tell us about Pack Your Bags Travel Agency.
Pack Your Bags Travel Agency is a business offering domestic and international travel services. To date, our most booked purpose of travel are all-inclusive destination packages. Although Pack Your Bags accepts most travel requests, the most popular destinations have been: Las Vegas, Cancun, and Jamaica. Services extend past flights and lodging as Pack Your Bags can also confirm reservations for excursions, entertainment events, car rentals, travel insurance, etc. I am proud to have a host of clients, friends and family who continue to support my business so I may continue to pursue goals in the tourism industry.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’ve learned to strictly prioritize and designate realistic time to tasks and goals. There is the possibility of potential clients not confirming their reservations, but each request allows growth for better practices. I understand the value of relative news that affect tourism and completing training for destinations and brands as well.
