Today we’d like to introduce you to Asher Khan.
Asher, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Seeing colors and shapes with tints and shades is all I remember of my childhood. I am an artist from Katy, Texas, grew up in Kansas, and born in Pakistan. I have been exposed to multiple languages and cultures that influenced my views of this world and that is what makes me a versatile artist.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road will never be smooth for creativity. Growing up in the 90s, the world of color was not recognized as a means to fulfill the worldly desires. Hence, I took the road most traveled to put food on table and live the American dream. But all along there was a void. I lost who I was and became who I was expected to be. I eventually found myself painting, and once I started again after many years, I found life around me to be more beautiful and meaningful. It then became evident that my life was incomplete without the vibrancy of colors.
Please tell us more about your art.
I am the sole owner, production manager, shipper, and creator of all my work. I am known for creating work with oil on canvas, textures, and metal sheet art. My pieces speak for themselves as they are all different and my original ideas, and that is what sets me apart. I believe in creating paintings that make the audience think, as concepts and compositions are very important to me. My goals and efforts are always towards depicting real-life situations to make you pause and absorb the emotions that it projects. I am most proud of selling my pieces and making people’s homes beautiful with my work, knowing my hardwork will bring years of joy to their family.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Determination. I believe in simple formulas. I once heard a quote, “ Success equates to 1% luck, 1% talent, and 98% determination.” I believe that I alone am responsible for my own happiness. I spent hours perfecting methods and techniques. I accept failure as a bigger teacher than success.
