Meet Alex Bonetti and Daniel Gottschalk of Family Tree In-Home Senior Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Bonetti and Daniel Gottschalk.

Alex and Daniel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Early in life, I made a commitment to myself to focus my entire life on serving others. After all, “there is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.” Initially, I volunteered my time at a local adolescent treatment center assisting teenagers and their families battling with addiction. Impassioned by this experience, I turned my focus to pursuing my degree in psychology so that I could continue to help others.

While attending the University of Texas at Austin, my mother was diagnosed with cancer while my grandmother was battling Alzheimer’s disease. Drawing upon my newfound commitment, I went home during college to be with my mom. It was around this time I knew my true calling would be to care for the health of others. One year after graduating from UT, I formed Family Tree In-Home Senior Care to help care for older adults.

We started Family Tree from my one-bedroom apartment and in five short years have grown to employ over 200 compassionate individuals serving seniors in Houston and the Greater Houston Area. We faced several challenges along the way including regulatory changes and increased competition, but we’ve managed to grow year over year and we’ll be opening our 4th office this year in the Greater Houston Area along with our 1st office outside the Greater Houston Area.

Has it been a smooth road?
My greatest career challenge was starting Family Tree from scratch. At age 24, I quit my full-time job and embarked on the journey of entrepreneurship. Every milestone seemed impossible, and after 6 months, I only had 2 clients. I kept focused and determined, and eventually outgrew my humble beginnings running the company out of my tiny apartment bedroom. Today, I have co-founded Genova, an umbrella company that manages a portfolio of solutions, including Family Tree. I have found that what got me to where I am today is simply an intense focus on my goals and a stubborn refusal to fail. Today, my business partner Daniel Gottschalk and I manage one of the largest privately-owned home care companies in the Greater Houston Area.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Family Tree | In-Home Senior Care – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Daniel and I are each motivated by deeply personal experiences in managing healthcare. We’re passionate about helping others and driving change in the healthcare industry.

Inspired by my grandmother’s struggles with Alzheimer’s disease, I founded Family Tree In-Home Senior Care to raise the standard of excellence for home care. Since our humble beginnings in my apartment, Family Tree has become the #1 and most awarded provider of home care in the Greater Houston Area.

Daniel’s grandmother relied on nurses and caregivers during her battle with dementia, and while in college, Daniel himself served as a caregiver for a beloved professor. Determined to reimagine the way health is managed in the home, Daniel reached out to me in 2015 to discuss working together. …

A partnership was born, and we co-founded Genova Health to manage Family Tree and help keep older adults safer, happier, and healthier in the place they choose to age – their home.

Family Tree provides a range of services including caregiving, nursing, home safety, disease management, and transportation. We help walk the family dog, prepare a meal, take a bath, and more. All our services aim to better a senior’s chance of remaining happy and safe in their home.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Houston is the healthcare capital of the world! The Texas Medical Center is the largest medical center on planet earth with over 110,000 employees and 170,000 operations each year. As a healthcare company, we love working at the heart of healthcare innovation and we’re proud to be the largest privately-owned home care company serving the world’s largest medical center.

We’re a very active crew at Family Tree and we love the outdoors! We love that Houston has invested more in parks and recreation over the years, but we wish

they could “build some mountains”
