Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I left my family’s business, I still wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do. With no degree, a future that was now in my rearview mirror as far as taking over the business I grew up in, and really unsure what I wanted to do. I started going back to school and eventually figured out that I wanted to help other business owners through coaching, writing books, speaking and all that would be powered through my podcast (Dreamers Podcast). There were plenty of times that I didn’t know what I was going to do for money to be able to keep my house and life intact. Another client would always seem to come along right at the perfect time when things started to look their worst. People would ask me a lot along my journey “how much money are you making from podcasting”? I would always say “if I was in school, the first question you wouldn’t ask me is how much money am I making”. I eventually dropped out of college (2nd time in my life) because the professors I had would ask why am I there. And I realized I didn’t need a piece of paper with the level of experience I already bring to the table. Leaving my family’s business was especially hard too. It put a tremendous strain on the relationship between my father and I. For years we didn’t talk much, and it was only once my daughter (firstborn) came along in 2016 that things started to turn around slowly but surely.
234 Solutions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
There are really three arms to my business: 234 Media (books, podcasts, video production, tv production and music), 234 Threads (t-shirt design company), and 234 Solutions (live events like Independent Podcast Conference, coaching and consulting for businesses and entrepreneurs. Podcast coaching and event planner coaching). With each arm of the business, the goal is to help as many people as possible with the skills I bring to the table. That includes helping people empower themselves, solve complex problems, and being creative. I try to bridge the gap between the human, tech and business sides together.
To do this, when I work with a business owner I focus on three key areas that I wrote about in my book Sales Won’t Save Your Business. Team, Offer and Process or the TOP as I call it. When I coach someone or have them on my podcast I’m told that they feel like they just got out of a therapy session. Something that I hold near and dear to me heart because I want people to feel as comfortable as possible that they can open up and get to the root of the issues that they are working through at the time. My first book is an Amazon Best Seller (Joe Pardo’s 31 Life-Changing Concepts). My podcast in 2017 won Business Podcast of the year (www.podcastawards.com). I put a heavy emphasis on social responsibility as a company. Finding something that means a lot to you and enabling it to be a major difference-maker in the world.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love is the people are among the top nicest people I’ve met in the world. For me traveling isn’t about getting to see great views, but it is about the people and the culture. I always feel right at home when I travel to Texas. Even though I am not a Cowboy… I’m an Eagle 😉 . The flooding the city has endured is heartbreaking.
