Meet Kyle Atkinson of US Air Force Recruiting – Katy, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Atkinson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kyle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania that didn’t have a lot of opportunities for me after high school, so I followed in my brother’s footsteps and joined the United States Air Force. I served in Air Transportation for over 12 years, two at Ramstein AFB in Germany, 1 in Osan AFB in South Korea, four at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, three at JBPHH in Hawaii, and was deployed to Quitar, Iraq, and Kuwait. While living in Hawaii, I was selected to become a recruiter. My wife, our two sons, and I moved to Katy two years ago so that I could take over the office that supports the greater Katy area, including parts of CyFair, Sealy, Bellville, and all the way out to Round Top.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were challenges I expected to experience when I joined like missing my family, moving to a strange new places where I didn’t know anyone, and long hours, but the hardest part so far was being deployed when my son oldest son was born. However, coming home and seeing him for the first time was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. There is a lot of sacrifices involved in a military career, but I’ve found it to be extremely rewarding as well.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with US Air Force Recruiting – Katy, TX – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
As an Air Force recruiter, I’m looking for the best and most qualified applicants in my area to become the country’s newest and greatest airmen. I’m proud to know that I’m changing the lives of many young men and women who came from similar backgrounds as myself, with limited opportunities. Now, they will have a great career, steady paycheck, healthcare, free college tuition, the chance to travel the world, and so much more that they might not have had otherwise. I believe that my ability to develop a genuine relationship of mutual trust and respect with my applicants and their families is what sets me apart from other recruiters.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have a few years left in my career in the Air Force. While that winds down, I am finishing my degree in Kinesiology and working towards my black belt in BJJ. Once I retire, I hope to open my own jiu-jitsu gym wherever my family and I decided to set down roots.
