Today we’d like to introduce you to London Spears.
London, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I got started with a push from my cousins Dasha and Quinton. They stayed on me about my potential to not settle to just work at Home Depot forever (no shade I love Home Depot)! But my cousin Quinton was on a break from the NFL and came to visit me and told me I had to go after something either go back to college or go after my dream of being a Massage Therapist.
So, I applied to the Texas Center for Massage Therapy here in Houston, graduated and became Licensed in 2014! In 2015, I went full entrepreneur and I also have a bath/skincare business called Nostalgic Love which keeps be busy along with currently being in school for Esthetics! I have something to prove to my kids! I want them to see their Mom be successful. But I will say I have an amazing support system! They have gotten me through all the tearful phone calls where I swear I’m quitting or just when life has kicked me down and I thought the world was going to end. They are everything to me. I also have an amazing mentor @sixfigurespachick I love her. My success wouldn’t be 1/2 of what it is without her guidance and creativity in marketing and just everything! I cried to her once and she listened and then said what are you going to do cry or boss up? I keep that mindset about everything in life. Most times I do both. Lol but Mostly Prayer! Faith without works is dead!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely been an obstacle course. The push into entrepreneur life came from me being let go from my high paying spa job. When you’re shining in your calling, haters will try to stop you from surpassing them. Also, I will say KNOW YOUR CIRCLE, not everyone is rowing in the same direction as you, they aren’t even rowing, they are drilling holes the bottom of the boat, ready to drown the whole crew. I definitely learned that the hard way this year. But, I read somewhere that the most important part of failure is what you learn from it. Now to do better.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about LS Massage Therapy – what should we know?
I am the owner of LS Massage Therapy & I’m certified/licensed in over 15 different modalities. I’ve massaged 1000’s of people and I LOVE it! My specialty is definitely Ashiatsu! It’s a deep therapy where I use my feet and bars overhead to work on my clients. I’m a 3rd level Ashi-Therapist and I hope to achieve “Master” level in 2020. But its what I’m known for, and it even got me my first celebrity client Ryan Hurst! I think it helps me stand out because it’s not something EVERYONE does! Plus, I try to give my clients an experience tailored to them, I like to find out what music they like, or which life events are coming up, or sometimes just surprising them with their favorite candy at the end of a session. I love my clients!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Be disciplined, it is going to carry you on the days when you aren’t feeling like completing those orders. Also being personable, that has helped me a lot throughout life!
