Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Rose.
Greg, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
So I consider myself somewhat a ”social goes” of life. I like being social and in social settings. I enjoy being around others who enjoy life. Whether that’s thru music, experiences or food. It just so happen I love all three. I was out one Sunday afternoon in Houston enjoying friends and drinks somewhere (can’t remember) as I went to order more drinks and food (particularly brunch), the establishment informed me that it was no longer available to be sold as the time for those items had expired. The entire group and I wasn’t very fond of those rules. At that moment, I said, “what if I started providing something that I want, something that others would appreciate”. Good food, good drinks, good music in an environment that is more than comfortable for anyone that wants to engage. So I started running ideas amongst some of my closest friends and started really exploring if I was able to get the combination in other establishments.
While some places offered 1 of the 3, it was difficult for me to get 3 for 3 in my opinion. So I immediately got to the drawing board and figured out what I needed to do, and how I would offer something that is unique in its own way to those like-minded individuals. My Good friend and business partner Jamuar Barnes begin running ideas on how to improve our idea to each other. We spent hours brainstorming and playing devil’s advocate on what we thought would & wouldn’t work. We decided on a vision of where we wanted to take this thing. While Brunchish grew, the team decreased. I believe this was due partly because of a difference in visions. I know that this apart of how businesses are made. Thus formulating BrunchishTX, which encompasses an experience shown thru the results of hard work and steadfast decisions which come from the confidence of believing in one’s abilities to provide a quality service.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth ride. With all good things comes trials. All types of situations from the actually weather to management that didn’t see our worth. Though we are new, we have been very adamant on running an honest and transparent business. After outlining our plan to bring Houstonians an unforgettable experience to different Venues, we were tested to see how well we could actually perform. It seemed as tho each time (with a few different vendors) we had to prove ourselves. Whether it was a targeted audience or sales. Nonetheless, we have been able to stay consistent with our dealings. In addition, proving to the city we are ready for business, we also encounter trails thru Houston’s “bipolar” weather. While some would cancel events or postpone due to weather. We were able to use it to our advantage. For the most part, our journey is still ongoing and we are prepared to face the projected bumps along the way.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the BrunchishTX story. Tell us more about the business.
So we specialize in bringing people together thru music food and networking. We pride ourselves on connecting individuals with other beautiful people who are like-minded in terms of creating a network of creators, professionals along with a wide variety of interest groups. We are most proud of the fact we are able to provide that “what else is going on” element to Houstonians. We are only in competition with ourselves to improve the services we provide. Houston is a large market which we want to connect as many people as possible starting with one mimosa at a time.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We do believe luck had little to do with what we have going and more so preparation, planning and prayer. We prepare each week with targeted goals and try to exceed those. We plan our events by reviewing, brainstorming and exhausting all possibilities that we come up with during almost daily meetings. Most of all, we stay praying for guidance, understanding and success to come to us and our consumers which will in Turn provide a memorable and enjoyable service.
