Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuck Gordon.
Chuck, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I founded SpareFoot with my roommate Mario Feghali in 2008 while still attending UCLA. We moved from Los Angeles to Austin in 2009 to join the Capital Factory business incubator. We were named among Forbes 30 Under 30 and I have also been nominated for E&Y’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Since its inception, we have raised almost $50 million in venture capital. SpareFoot has been named a top place to work by Entrepreneur Magazine and is consistently recognized as a top workplace by the Austin American-Statesman and the Austin Business Journal.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a company, we’ve had to learn to adapt to changing market conditions. This means that sometimes, you have to pivot, redirect strategy and move quickly in order to be successful. It can be hard to stay the course when blindsided by something completely outside of your control. Luckily, we’ve been able to overcome these hurdles thanks to the incredible people at this company.
