Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Davis.
Tiffany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Photography; believe it or not wasn’t my initial goal. From a young age, I’ve always been fascinated with art. Whether it was storytelling, drawing, fashion or the way colors were put together to create something amazing; I was for it & growing up in Oakland, CA. there were plenty of creative influences & influencers to light the spark.
By the time I started high school, I was set on being a film producer/director; however, a fashion design institute was my first acceptance letter so I went for it. Several years later, I moved forward into web design. Shortly thereafter graduating in 2010, I purchased my first Nikon DSLR.
This was the beginning of my shift into photography and starting my brand TIFFANYDAVIS Photography full time. My specialty was weddings, family portraits, events, etc. which is hilarious to me now; I learned really fast specializing in everything is not a thing. In 2015, I shot my first styled boudoir shoot and immediately knew this was it. I dropped pretty much all styles except weddings. After shooting more boudoir, I eventually let wedding photography go and put everything I had into boudoir photography & have cherished every moment along the way!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Late 2015, my family and I relocated to Rosenberg, TX from San Diego, CA. which in my opinion is more conservative. I’ve had to adapt to this change & reassess how I present my brand due to the difference in lifestyles. The biggest obstacles were at the very beginning of starting up TIFFANYDAVIS Photography; I did not give myself enough time to prepare for the client to brand what if’s and I definitely didn’t prepare financially. After equipment, gov. fees, etc. involved in the startup; I was definitely not in a position to resolve financial what if’s. These are things you learn to prepare for along the way if whatever industry you’re in is your passion and you are truly growing in it.
Please tell us about TIFFANYDAVIS Photography.
TIFFANYDAVIS Photography is an on-location boudoir Photography brand that specializes in Intimate Lifestyle & Intimate Bridal portraits.
TDP opens a space for observation; and that’s the experience I want my clients to have. It has to be more than a photoshoot for them. I’m not shooting intimate, nude or semi-nude portraits of adults for likes or popularity. My mission is to have the client experience confidence & self-love during the shoot or on their drive home!
I’m very proud of my personal growth; although I have not reached my peak I have learned so much about myself and how strong women really are. The women I’ve worked with from muas, stylists, models, photographers to everyday women; have all been amazing. The fact that they have trusted me to capture them when they are most vulnerable and in an intimate setting or follow my lead on a vision to see it blossom lets me know my lane is the course. A moment that will always be with me was receiving a text from a young lady I was to have a session with. She texted, “I’m ready to love myself“ just to be able to share in a journey such as this is why I do what I do. I encourage self-love, confidence and the empowerment of women with no apologies!
