Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Renee.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
With support from family and encouragement from friends, I launched a catering service in 2012… in March of 2014, She Cooked It Catering was born. After a successful run in catering & reaching my peak within the Houston & surrounding areas.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
A physical injury took place during one of my largest events. In 2016, I was catering an event for 150 guests after being on my feet for 16 hours my arch collapsed. The injury forced me to take a break & I had to relaunch as a personal chef & no longer offered large party catering. This was disappointing but also gave me the opportunity to go back to doing what I love, which was elevating my client’s palette with gourmet dishes. Catering limited me, it kept me in a shell because parties often want to feed a crowd & clients tended to choose a menu that stretches, like chicken, pasta, basic carbs, and basic vegetables.
She Cooked It – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What sets me apart is that I am my own individual, I only compete with myself. I relaunched “She Cooked It” in 2019 as a boutique catering company & private dining services. I went from publishing my foodie calendars in 2013-2015, although I’m extremely camera shy, to recently appearing on three TV segments on local news for Channel 2 KPRC! For that, I am thankful, being able to see my growth. I have a lot of things lined up for the Houston Foodies! Stay tuned…
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is actually reaching & surpassing your personal goals! Success is competing with the past versions of yourself & actually winning. Success is graduating from your own challenges. Success is overcoming what holds you back, and typically that is your own fears. Success is failing one hundred & one times & getting it right the hundred and second time. Success is; watching your children, family, and friends bask in seeing you thrive in a light that no one can steal from you & then boasting about it. For me, that’s what success looks & feels like, and it’s truly a beautiful thing.
