Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. David Nguyen of URBN Dental Uptown and Dr. Benjamin Golik of URBN Dental Midtown.
The journey started in New York City where both dentists fulfilled their advanced dentistry residencies. Only the top graduating dentists were selected for this program to learn how to provide comprehensive cosmetic, in depth care for patients. Living in and exploring the city, it was only a matter of time before New York City’s art, culture, and creative atmosphere inspired both dentists to bring the same innovative elements and energy to the thriving city of Houston.
Houston is the melting pot of the younger generation full of opportunity and good energy. The locations of the URBN offices are situated in rapidly growing areas as well as areas that are focused on urban living.
The Uptown office is stationed in between the high end shopping center of River Oaks District and Highland Village. This location has high rise apartments and living areas scattered with restaurants, bars, and trendy fitness studios.
The Midtown office is positioned in a similar mixed development in Midtown surrounded by Downtown, Museum District, and Montrose in the thriving Mid Main neighborhood. It is located in Houston’s Midtown Cultural Arts and Entertainment district in front of a light rail for easy access. The walkability aspect of both offices are very important to Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Golik, as this aspect encourages community and a friendly neighborhood atmosphere.
The mission of URBN Dental is to bring back the feeling of that dependable neighborhood dentist. The offices are designed to give the patient a sense of peace and ease, with a goal of infusing dentistry with art and soul. The offices are inspired and influenced by nature and built with warm natural materials like reused brick and reclaimed wood creating feelings of calmness and comfort. The dentists focus on wellness and experience, therefore utilizing organically modified BPA free, Bis-GMA free, ceramic filling materials. The interior design is reminiscent of a coffee house and art studio–comforting, laid back, inviting, and fun. They support local artists and welcome the idea of showcasing their art work, as their office spaces often double up as bohemian art galleries. The ever changing art on the walls contribute to the creativity and energy of their respective communities. Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Golik strive to cultivate a passion for the arts in their design and your health.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to owning an independent Dental office was and at certain times still is difficult. At URBN Dental we use BPA-free fillings, state of the art digital equipment, and the highest quality materials to treat patients. We do not focus on low quality materials and high volume work, but rather high quality dentistry for every patient at affordable costs. We want the patient’s care to come first. The struggle is competing with the very low fees that corporate dentistry charges, but could ultimately could harm them in the future.

URBN Dental believes in offering the best quality dentistry to our patients. We use only BPA-Free fillings and offer this service at no additional charge. What separates us from traditional dentists is that we are very detail oriented when it comes to our work, such as Invisalign cases. We carefully treat the cases personally and go through several revisions with Invisalign before any treatment is rendered. Most cases are treatment planned so well it requires no reduction in tooth structure.
Cosmetic dentistry is no different, all Veneers are meticulously sculpted. We are most proud of our exceptional moral compass to do the most amazing high quality work possible for patients. We are very conservative with treatment plans. We know everyone is afraid of the dentist and we are here to provide a whole new experience full of good energy.
