Meet OX of TribalTun Records in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to OX.

Thanks for sharing your story with us OX. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Ever since I was a child, music has inspired me and been apart of my life. From the sound of the drums that made my feet move to the vocals. Born in The Dominican Republic and then moving to Florida as a child and then finally in Houston; I didn’t really connect with my passion till I got to middle school. I remember sitting back with my friends just freestyling and having fun while hopping on beats after school. But it wasn’t until highschool when I recorded for the first time, and ever since then I knew that that’s what I wanted to do. From starting in a project studio at my house with a snowball mic to recording in a professional studio was really a game-changer. Game changer in a sense where I felt like I had true potential to turn my passion into my career. And in this game, I could be an entrepreneur. I figured if I was really going to make music my passion Id have give it my all.

Though it being a difficult decision, I decided to stop going to college. I felt that through education it is only “A” way to become successful not “The” way and if you’re not following your dreams that make you happy then what’s the point of doing something you don’t want to do. I love music and feel like the universe puts you at the right place at the right time. And it wasn’t until I met someone I call a brother by the name of Channing Warren who is now my manager and business partner help me elevate my career. Fast-forwarding to today, I had the pleasure of meeting with major artists in the industry. Recently Tory lanez and Chris Brown had a show at the Toyota Center in Houston, which I attended. Near the end of the show, I had ran into Tory Lanez DJ. Tory Lanez to me is one of the best artist and dopest in the game and was a dream to work with him.

After running into his DJ my dreams became a reality and I got a feature track with Tory. That same night I contacted my producer Jacob Andrews to cook the beat up and in minutes he pushed it our way. We created something that night that I know the world would love to hear. The record is not out yet but it will be soon it will catch worldwide attention because the record is in Spanish and English, thats how I like making my music. Someone who also helped me that I call a mentor and also working on two records with him, the hottest Latin Producer in the game Scott Summers who went Platinum 11 times in the United States with the song Con Calma by Daddy Yankee.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
You know I feel like everybody has their struggles working in this game. Working on something you love is never going to be easy all the time. You’re always going to have some type of adversity but you just got to keep your head up. My first struggle was just in believing myself after that I had my business partner to believe in my vision, things just elevated from there.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with TribalTun Records – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My company TribalTun records is all about being able to give the audience what they want to hear were all about positivity and always looking to better ourselves as people. So I believe a good foundation in a company and good relationships is critical to having a team to support one another. I am an artist so I specialize in music and I couldn’t really say what I’m known for but I feel like if someone did say what they knew me for, it would probably be my energy, I’m always in a good mood. What sets me apart from others is I do Latin urban music (reggaeton) and hip/hop.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
First and foremost, what I plan for the future is to continue success, I also want to be able to give back to our community through my platform. I really look forward to those who are underprivileged in society. As a Dominican immigrant, I am understanding that those who are less fortunate just want to live the American dream. My team and I are very sensitive to the issues that are going on at the border right now. We are currently exploring ways to help those that are in need and give a voice to the children. I couldn’t imagine being a child locked in a cell 24 hours a day without seeing my parents, so therefore I really want to help.
