Meet Chuck Bah of BAM Fitness (By Any Means) in Northwest, Cypress & Spring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuck Bah.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chuck. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey into fitness is not the most heralded one. I got myself into trouble with the law which forced me to go away for four and half years from 18-23. While incarcerated, I played basketball everyday we were able to go outside. The problem was my attitude was volatile and I had no control over my emotions. One day an older gentleman took me to the side and insisted that I used my aggression to physically workout. Honestly, from that point on is where my love from working out started. When I came home in 2010 oddly enough, I considered becoming a personal trainer, but I needed to provide for family immediately so I didn’t take the plunge. It wasn’t until an associate of mine saw one of my fitness videos via social media and commented that he was thrilled that I came home and started training people like I did on the inside. To me, that was eye-opening. From that point on I made it a point to pursue my dream and go into the fitness industry. That was 2015.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not even in the slightest. The transition was crazy!!! I was a Corporate Manager for a mechanic shop and I would pay my assistant manager and but my staff lunch to go off and do boot camps or leave early sometimes even skip work completely to train clients. Problem was I was paying to train after being paid to train. So there was cash surplus by doing this. Then my time was limited because of the hours a manager had to work per week. I could tell my team was getting tired of filling in and covering for me. A decision had to be made so my wife gave me three months to bring in what I was bringing from my job and said if I could sustain it, I could keep going. Thankfully God has kept me up and up and I keep pushing everyday.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the BAM Fitness (By Any Means) story. Tell us more about the business.
Mission Statement – My goal is to help provide a means to a healthy lifestyle and set the foundation to a new way of living out of habit not necessity, By Any Means. BAM Fitness.

I’m an online and personal trainer. My business or ministry is helping others. I don’t just provide a service I provide a lifestyle change. It embodies a new beginning once the client start to see and feel the change. My proudest moments are the text I receive about a compliment a family member has given a client or co-worker. The casual “hey I has these pants for three years and I can fit them again.” Helping others makes me feel good. Training to me is about building a relationship pass exercising because there is so much more that goes into it. My clients and I talk about real-life goals what’s pass this. How can we get better a human for society. That hour we spend doesn’t amount to time training doesn’t amount to the time here on earth. So how can we make an impact there.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
For me, it’s easy you get what you give. Don’t know if I’d call it luck but more of how much time are you willing to put in, how much are you willing to sacrifice. That’ll determine your “luck” whether it’s life or business. I’ve never been in a position where I didn’t look back and say what could’ve I done differently to not end up here. Then adapt and adjust.
