Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Castille.
Natalia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey started roughly 30 years ago when I was in my early twenties. I was working in a chic French boutique and spa. I learned the art of beauty. From there, I went on to join the Urban Retreat day spa in River Oaks Houston. I worked my way up to spa coordinator and events manager. Organizing spa events and bridal, bachelorette and wedding groups.
Full day of beauty packages were in back then and it was my job to make someone look and feel beautiful then. I started as a receptionist and became very interested in the beauty side. I became interested in massage therapy, facials and the overall spa experience. With time I work my way up to management. The spa merged with the St Regis hotel and created a partnership. I was given the opportunity to grow my career and to become part of the Starwood hospitality industry managing a Million dollar spa. Our location at the time did not have a full-time massage therapist. When Urban Retreat merged with the St. Regis Hotel, I took a leap and became the Spa director for the Urban Retreat at the St. Regis Hotel Houston. It was a great experience for me. Working in that position was inspiring. I would plan days for a patrons that were experiencing getaways, weddings or spa parties. I love being involved in all aspects, food, flowers, arrangements, facials, and all-inclusive Spa treatments with limo service.
Our location at the time did not have an on call massage therapist, so I decided to get my massage license to help maintain our overhead budget. Once obtaining the license, I realized how much I loved the healing touch therapy. I enjoy spa treatments and I just really found my niche and passion into helping others feel better look better and just be better by overall therapeutic treatment. After many years at St. Regis I decided to retire and focused on my children. I actually had a beautiful retirement party hosted by management team. I was eager to shift my life to mommy mode.
Becoming a full-time mom to my three children which I love so much as they grew into miniature adults and started their own lives and careers, I realized that I really had a lot of time on my hands. Through the years, I kept my license, studied and earned several degrees in the Aesthetic field.
Then that brings me to where I am today. Today I am working for the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery. Where I am a skin care specialist and laser technician.
The beauty industry has always been intriguing to me. It’s what I am most passionate about. I love to make people look better, feel better actually be better. It’s nothing vain it is merely a decision to either look good or not. The sensation of looking in the mirror and liking what you see is priceless. A refreshed, rejuvenated healthy glow is worth every penny spent. It takes a little time and money but the final result is uplifting. I appreciate the opportunity that my clients give me to provide my services. Helping you look good and feel good. Is a dream job and I am full of gratitude daily. What a blessing for me to actually help people feel better. That has been something that I really feel passionate about to be there for that person and walk them through it. We actually have the most innovative treatments available to local Houstonians that are our practice patients or not. Skincare is my sweetness. I’m a skincare specialist. It’s a dream job! Looking good being healthy and having healthy glow to your skin is my passion.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t, my life journey as been all over the place. I became a mother at 21 by choice. I love being a mother, it is my grandest accomplishment. At 26, I had three children and was very busy with work and that’s why I decided that I just needed to cut back on work and raise my children. I was blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom. Overall my accomplishments in life have all had struggles and sacrifices like most people do. It’s how you handle obstacles and the changes you make when confronted with them. That matters most. At one point in my life, I was a young single mother of three and I knew I had to get stuff done. I once heard you gotta kinda sit in your S__t! And just figure things out.
I was extremely passionate about helping others as people along the way in my life helped me. I made it a point to always give to others. Volunteering at church, teaching Sunday school, joining woman’s business networking organizations, offering my services complimentary at Md Anderson and at my private office or offering counseling services to young ladies unsure about life. I view my life as a gift God gave me a gift that is special and made from Love. God didn’t make life easy, but he helps us when it’s hard.
After doing volunteer work at MD Anderson, I found myself getting busier and busier again with request calls, I decided to get back into working a little more after the kids got older. So I opened a private medical office doing massage therapy, skincare, and physical therapy type treatments all services were health-related treatments covered by Insurance. It was a remarkable job and I was happy to have built relationships with many Houstonians. I had some extra time on my hands when the children grew up. This is when I decided to be apart of the prestigious ACPS practice.
They gave me the opportunity. It was my platform to dive into the beauty industry to really gain more knowledge, more credentials to educate myself in the Aesthetic industry.
Beauty has always been my passion. Discovering that I had the desire to heal through touch was delightful. I had the healing touch and who would have guessed that I enjoyed the calm and tender side of myself. A lot of years and wisdom to get in this place. It was hard work to get where I am today. I enjoyed every obstacle that confronted me. I have no regrets from what I’ve done. I am enjoying where I am today. I’m blessed… In the struggling, you need to deal with yourself. Sit in it and figure it out. You need to meet people you need to work hard and I believe in working hard. I did for many years and a lot of appointments I would bring my three children along to do homework or just to be with me because.
I can’t believe how many times I am blessed in a day I get to meet new patients of the practice or with my regulars that I get to know and get to be a part of their lives. The action of helping someone look better is dreamlike. I get to be a part of their recovery. And I also get to be a part of their journey in their life and rebuilding a new life after having plastic surgery.
