Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Renee Elliott.
Caroline Renee, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I studied visual journalism at the University of Georgia so that’s where I learned how to capture and tell stories visually. I’ve used this skill on social media to share about fashion, beauty and travel, and to connect with others in that space.
Growing up in Istanbul, Turkey developed my love for travel and textiles. It also taught me how to relate to others who were different than me as I started my education at an international school where my classmates were from all around the world. It gave me an interest in other places, cultures and people and that curiosity is what drives me to capture images of the different places I go and to share them with others.
Recently, these things have come together in my blog and an Instagram account. It has given me a platform to connect with lots of others who have similar interests. I’ve learned so much from these connections and I’m excited to see the ways in which we’ll collaborate in the future.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. I think it’s always hardest to pursue the things that are closest to your heart. One of the biggest obstacles for me has been not believing that I have the worth that I do. I think it’s really easy to believe that you are the product of how one or two hurting people have treated you, but that’s not true at all.
Finding your worth is so much more than repeating words of affirmation to yourself. Your worth is found in discovering who you really are and who you were made to be. As I’ve read the Bible and sought Jesus, believing what he says about me has been the real life-changer.
One thing that has helped immensely since then, is surrounding myself with people that love me well and that encourage me consistently.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I work as a content creator. The visual side of it looks like capturing photo and video content for brands and includes the various collaborations on my social media accounts. On my social media accounts, I think what has set me apart is the different places in Turkey where I’ve had the opportunity to travel.
I also like to be open about the fact that I don’t have it all together, and I think that’s encouraging to people. It’s so easy to feel like you’re the only one until someone else is vulnerable. Then, you realize that we all have hard things in our lives and we can all relate to each other in that way.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
My mom has always been the biggest inspiration in my life. She cares so much about others and goes out of her way to help people all the time and that’s the kind of character that I aspire to have and the kind of woman that I want to be. My Grandma has always been my fashion inspiration as she loves clothes the way that I do. I actually borrow her clothes often and you can see pieces from her closet in many of my photos.
