Taylor, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started back in 2015 when I was a recent graduate from college and began freelancing to make extra money while still trying to find a full-time opportunity in marketing and social media content management. My goal was to always help other people but with my passion for marketing and communications, I found the need to help small businesses that didn’t have a large budget to spend on marketing, advertising and social media management. In the beginning, I was doing a ton of free work to build my clientele and expose my work. It was not easy by any means but I need I was on a mission that God sent. Over the course of years, I’ve built my clientele from free to paid and even added on additional services to my brand, motivational speaking and tax service, under the same umbrella. Since moving to Houston, I’ve launched a new entity, T.Valentine Styling which will consist of personal and professional styling, closet makeover and occasion styling. I knew God had a purpose for me but I didn’t know the clear vision until I moved to Houston. It has by far not been an easy journey, but it has been very rewarding and I’m forever grateful to keep building my platform to help people build their businesses with effective marketing and social media strategies, along with providing them daily motivation to keep them driving to God’s purpose.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not been easy by any means. I have had little to no assistance so that means I fund everything on my own and deal with so much when it comes to clients that don’t understand the in-depths of marketing and what it looks like from a consumer standpoint. It is like building an intimate relationship with a new spouse, that is truly how you have to look at your client from a professional perspective.
Any advice that I would give any young woman looking to venture off into full entrepreneurship or side hustle. Keep God first, remain faithful to his word, treat people right, take care of your mental and physical health and keep going even when you seem at your odds. It will eventually pay off. I promise.

I am a marketing consultant that specializes in working with small businesses who are in the restaurant, hospitality, beauty, wellness and nonprofit industries. I am mostly known for my client’s great success when it comes to solidifying the connection between them and their consumers. On the flip side, I also offer styling and motivational speaking services to give them the full revamp of their brand from start to finish.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well-positioned for?
Yes, we as women, particularly speaking for myself, there are as many opportunities as you give yourself. You have to go out there and chase your dreams. It will not come to you, unfortunately. I believe women united as a sisterhood is one of the most beautiful and powerful things the world needs. We should create that path if the opportunity does not present itself.
