Meet Jasmine Holcomb of Epitome of Jazzy in Southwest Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Holcomb.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jasmine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a child, it was embedded in me that entrepreneurship was possible. I was blessed with the support that allowed me to “reach for the stars”. On top of that, I had many examples of entrepreneurs. At an early age, I saw what it took to have your own business, the pros and cons, etc.

So what started as a hobby turned into a profession. Growing up the eldest of six, I was the one to do everyone’s hair. I was the best in the family, but I was nowhere near good lol. Most of the time, I only tried doing different hairstyles because my siblings wanted to try the newest styles lol. Little did I know, this is what I would be doing when I got older.

After high school, I decided to attend a university, even though I knew deep down I wanted to simply do hair. Regardless of the fact, I wanted to get PLAN B out the way first. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I went on to graduate from Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School. With help and support of family and friends, I worked my way up from working out of my home after graduating, to traveling, to working in salons, to having my own salon suite. & I don’t plan on stopping there!

Has it been a smooth road?
Regardless of what social media portrays, entrepreneurship is not easy. I think one of the hardest things about having my own business would be finding that balance. I like to consider myself a very empathetic & considerate person, which can be misconstrued or abused. I had to come to the realization that Epitome of Jazzy is a business and decide what level of professionalism & standard I wanted to hold my brand too. When I did that, people actually respected myself and my brand more.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Epitome of Jazzy story. Tell us more about the business.
Epitome of Jazzy is a brand. Hair services, products, as well as, merchandise are available for men, women, & children. I specialize in long-lasting protective hairstyles, such as braids, twists, and locs. With every service, my Epitome of Jazzy growth serum & shine polish is offered. With longer-lasting protective styles, such as box braids, I offer a maintenance kit that includes both Epitome of Jazzy products, braid bonnet, edge control with an edge control brush, as well as other goodies.

With the growth of Epitome of Jazzy, I am most proud of the reputation I have managed to create and maintain. When coming to get your hair done, my clients know it will be done with integrity. I also like to present my business with a certain level of professionalism, which ultimately sets me apart from the next braider/loctician.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next 5-10 years, I plan on doing big things. So keep a lookout for Epitome of Jazzy! Along with doing hair, simply helping people has always been something that makes me happy and I love doing. In the future, I plan to incorporate that a little more as I continue to grow as a brand. With success comes responsibility! & I’ve heard it gets lonely at the top, so I have no other choice but to bring people with me lol. I plan to push myself and my brand & grow so that I can help others grow & achieve the same goals.
