Meet Shola Aroniyo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shola Aroniyo.

Shola, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I go by RONi now, which sums up all I am as a man of many talents and as a creative this is my brand name! circa 2016 working with other creatives such as @ofilidesigns, @wavythecreator; the first photographer I worked with, the @wowoboyz; an acting and entertainment group, etc. I noticed my looks and style were the skill set most sort out from me, this was were it all started each year during the summer we come together and brainstorm on vibes to put out to the city and we kept it going and growing into a whole Afro scene which has become the heartbeat of the city.

In all my talents, I feel my style stands out the most. It’s a unique style that comes from a blend of rich colors in African prints, mixed with a hip-hop look; think Fresh prince of Bel-Air meets Prince of Zamunda, unabashedly African but still chic and contemporary.

Growing up as the last of four kids, I had to learn how to make ‘hand me downs’ work for me regardless of my body type at that time, I was able to make baggy clothes look good. That sense of I can make anything look good came over me and this was in the early 2000’s, G-unit era, it was only right and the rest they say is history.

After moving to the United states in 2010 and going to college in Texas southern university, in the south, with all this diversity, I feel at home and I have been heavily influenced into finding my style.

My style has afforded me the chance to work with celebrities and influencers in Houston! Such as @demolatheviolinist @tytanium @ofilidesigns @ecovangel to name a few.

With all this encompassed within me, I set worth to finding my niche.

Looking forward, I see myself making a niche for myself as one of the few models turned stylist and relying on my acting skills to take me 10-15 years into the future.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To be honest! The journey has had its ups and downs mostly from personal life having to balance loosing loved ones and still putting out good vibes to the world has been hard! But the creative scene has been warm and welcomed me with open arms!

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
I am building a business Marketing company. That specializes in branding! Right now, I am known for my modeling, styling and acting skill sets.

I am most proud of my works with @demolatheviolinst, @ofilisesigns. As their stylist on set! Working with them has afforded me the joy of being part of their journey to greatness! And also my work with @afwhouston African fashion week Houston! This has raised my profile to a standard where I can build from.

What sets me apart from others is my ability to serve others! And the dynamics of my talents; talents that all go together.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is going to the amusement park with family! Being able to afford this experience for the first time and being with the whole family all together is a memory I cherish.
