

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Nguyen.
David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out as a Microbiology graduate from the University of Texas and went on to work at Texas Children’s Hospital in the blood bank. From there, I received my MBA from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. I decided to take a different path and purchased an Allstate Insurance agency in April of 2013. From there, I transitioned from working in the lab to owning an insurance agency where I focus on sales and marketing on a daily basis.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth transition. First off, I jumped into an industry that I had zero knowledge in. I had spent most of my undergraduate years in focusing in science and now I was in an industry that was mainly sales and the technical side was all-in insurance. I had barely gotten an insurance policy on my own let alone sell or service anything. Talking with customers, it was a learning experience for both of us as I tackled many firsts.
Not only that, we had to relocate our offices two years into the business. That was a pain and problem since we were just developing brand recognition. Luckily, we were able to remain in the neighborhood and was only about 2 miles from where we originally were located.
Along with that, I had to learn how to recruit, train, and retain employees. Up until this point, I had only worked for a company, never had to be the boss. It was quite difficult juggling all of the day to day operations along with being the tech support, accounting, and HR person of the company.

We are a full-service insurance agency. We specialize in auto and home primarily. But we do help with landlord, flood, renter’s, flood and life insurance. We do NOT do any health insurance.
What we are known for is our service. I strive to respond to all requests within 24 hours or less and generally instantly if not by end of business day. We were one of the highest-rated Allstate agencies in the whole country based on company-issued reviews.
What sets us apart from other agencies is we do what we promise. That sounds simple but often times in this industry agents do not follow through on what they say.
Also, many times we might not be the cheapest option, but we will be giving you the coverage that you truly need. Other times our rates just might not be competitive, and I will be the first to tell you NOT to buy from me at this time. I believe that brutal honesty goes a long way.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I want to grow my office by maybe 1 or 2 more staff. I would potentially like to open another branch down the line and instill the same level of service to be expected at my current location.
