Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaye Bradley.
Originally from Gary, Indiana Kaye at a very young age developed a unique and original sense of style. Growing up in the Midwest Kaye was always fashionable but had a New York kind of swag. Her love for fashion grew and was very apparent in the way she dressed. It all started with always wanting to own my own business and build a brand and legacy. In Dec. 2012 “BlueRoc7 Clothing” was launched in Houston, TX. I came up with the name because my birthstone is a shade of “Blue”, also my favorite color, “Roc” for solid foundation, and “7” because I was born in 77. From there, I started working on the first designs and released the first t-shirts in April 2014. Engaged in direct sales, networked with like-minded individuals, and marketed the brand at local events to increase brand recognition. Since starting the business, I have grown as a businesswoman and also as a person.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been several ups and downs in my journey of creating the brand. When you’re just starting out and you’re figuring out the business on your own with no knowledge you make a lot of financial mistakes. Facing problems with production and trying to find the right production facilities that offer quality material at a decent cost for an upstart clothing line. It’s also difficult to stand out in a saturated market and build a following on social media.
BlueRoc 7 Clothing – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
BlueRoc 7 Clothing is a t-shirt brand influenced by high fashion and pop/urban culture that offers amazing designs for the discerning customer looking to make a fashion statement. My vision is to create tees that you don’t see on the everyday market in Houston. I wanted to offer a brand that if you’re looking for something different for a special event, I want to be that go to brand. My current position is I do it all. I’m the owner, designer, marketing rep, accountant, etc. I’m most proud that I started something and really had no clue of what I was doing and it has grown to become a noticeable brand in Houston. What sets the brand apart from others is not following trends and the quality of the product. For me, it’s not just about putting out a t-shirt, it’s about offering a quality product.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment is just seeing how the brand has grown overall from the designs to our following and support from family, friends and customers.
