Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Burns.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Keep Kimberly Posted was founded in 2014. I spent many years in Corporate America, and I was tired of being in the corporate box, I felt like I never had any free time to do what I wanted to do, start a business. I had attended several networking events to get my feet I wanted to interact with other business owners to find out what was in hot demand. I met a woman and she was a virtual assistant and she shared her experience with me, and I knew that this was something that I could do. She gave me some great direction and resources on how to get started, she provided me with all the tools that I needed I am forever grateful to her. I had over 15 years of administrative experience working for top-level executives, I knew that I could use my skills to work with growing businesses to help save time while growing their brand. Each experience has added indispensable skills and insights to my tool belt, and I thrive on using that knowledge to help others. My mission is to free up their time and take over projects that are tedious and time-consuming. I’m passionate about helping my, clients find that work and life balance and have time for things that they truly enjoy. I love being able to help others move confidently toward their dreams while I achieve mine.
In 2016, I became bored up with handling administrative tasks and decided to switch things up in my business. I fell in love with graphics and creating social media content for my clients, they would often always ask me if I managed social media accounts at that time, I was not interested but I was intrigued.
Wanting to quench the entrepreneurial thirst I enrolled in college and received my degree in marketing. Growing my business took a lot of hard work and dedication but I knew that I could create a solid foundation and provide an amazing experience for my clients. Here I am today, six years later, bringing my client’s visions to life and transforming brands.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth road for me! The biggest struggle that I overcame was in 2014 when I was diagnosed with a tumor on my optic nerve. My doctor informed me that I had to undergo 28 days of radiation to my face, I was devastated. The hardest thing about this challenge, I was scared and didn’t know how I was going to juggle working full-time, and running my business and getting treatments. One thing I did know is that I had a whole lot of faith and one hell of support and team. I prayed and asked God to please not let this take me down, I needed to be strong and get through this. My prayers were answered, I had little to no sickness with my radiation treatments. I was able to go get treatments during my lunch break and return back to work. At that moment, I realized just how strong I was and that I could overcome anything. Dealing with this medical issue has definitely made me a stronger woman and I am here for a reason and I have so much more to do!
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
The first person is my mother, she taught me how to be compassionate and to treat people like I wanted to be treated and always dress for the success. She always showed passion and drive in any project that she took on, big or small. I watched my mom work hard to support me and my sister all by herself. Having a strong, driven, talented woman in my surroundings has shaped me in so many ways, and I am so grateful. She has supported my career by being my biggest cheerleader, sharing ideas, and offering me honest feedback. Her unconditional love and support, has been invaluable. I am so blessed to have her as a mother. She has inspired me to keep going I have work to do!
The second person who I look up to is my wife, we have been together for 11 years. My wife is intelligent, smart and hardworking she is most giving person that I have ever met. I saw her juggle a full-time job, full-time college student and still make time for her family. She showed me that hard work and dedication will pay off as long as you have a plan. When I first told her that I wanted to start a business she said I should jump out on faith and do it! And that is exactly what I did! She really believes in me and has always encouraged me to keep going no matter what obstacles comes my way. She has taught me to believe in myself and to find my true purpose in life. I am forever grateful for my wife here and I am so happy to have her in my life. The entrepreneur bug has bite her too, be on the lookout for Concierge Pet Resort coming soon to Houston!
