Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgios Ziakas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Originating from Greece where attended and graduated medical school as valedictorian came to US for a research program in Baylor and decided to pursue specialty training in this country. Trained in general surgery in Philadelphia and Houston and completed it in 2006. Worked as general surgeon in an undeserved area in rural mountainous Virginia for three years and then returned to Houston where continued the same and also started ER work. Went to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson where completed a plastic surgery fellowship and returned to Houston where NBPS was established as a solo practice.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were many challenges along the way from leaving family behind and not being able to visit often due to school and work obligations, difficulty in securing training in competitive specialties including occasional prejudice against foreign medical graduates, multiple moves to different locales to name a few.

New Body Plastic Surgery was established as a solo plastic surgery practice to offer honest, individualized and compassionate care to our patients. We specialize in cosmetic and plastic surgery services such as nonsurgical facial rejuvenation with Botox and fillers, micro-needling and thread lift, breast reduction and augmentation, complex hernia repairs, male and female lipo-sculpting and body contouring, mommy makeovers, skin cancers, endoscopic brow surgery, cool sculpting to name a few. We also offer a variety of aesthetician services including facials. We are proud to provide compassionate, individualized care to our patients in a safe and welcoming environment. We are also involved in patient advocacy campaigns with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and Dr Ziakas has served in several leadership roles with the Society including the Legislative, Patient Safety, Health Policy and Healthcare delivery committees.
What’s your favorite memory from childhood?
Short weekend family trips to the countryside with the occasional picnic.
