Today we’d like to introduce you to Mina Tabatabai.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Houston and used to hate going to the dentist until I was 15 years old. That’s when I had my first positive experience with dental care and met a dentist who was truly caring, compassionate and able to make the experience enjoyable instead of frightening!
That’s when I decided I wanted to become a dentist and create the same experience for kids so they can enjoy their visits to the dentist too. Inspired to be a pediatric dentist I graduated with honors from the University of Houston Honors College (Go Coogs!) where I had received a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship! Immediately afterwards I put my snow boots on and moved to Washington, D.C. to attend dental school. After graduating from dental school, I completed a two years residency in Pediatric Dentistry in Washington, D.C.
As a true native Texan girl, I moved back to Houston to fulfill a lifelong dream and opened my own pediatric dental office – Minali Dental. I live here with my husband and two little boys who love to run and climb on everything. Houston is my home, and I am grateful to be able to give back to the community I grew up in and gave me the opportunity to realize my dreams. I am a big advocate of the local, national, and international community and have served on dental mission trips to Costa Rica, Honduras, Iran, and Panama.
Has it been a smooth road?
I was fortunate to get accepted directly into dental school and then to residency, both of which are very competitive. However, I never got a break! But I genuinely love the time I spend with my patients and have so much fun with them so it has been an amazing ride.

I specialize in pediatric dentistry which is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teen years, as well as special needs children. We have the experience and qualifications to care for a child’s teeth, gums, and mouth throughout the various stages of childhood- and we make it fun! Children can sense the comfort and care at Minali Dental. We are proud of the atmosphere that we have created for the kids from the 9 foot giraffe outside our door to the TV’s on the ceiling the kids know the office is for them and is their safe place. Our patients become our family!
The parents appreciate that there is never a wait as we book every patient to have their own time and personal attention. We are transparent with our goals and earn the trust of our patients and their parents. So many times the parents have to beg the kids to leave the office after their dental appointment! I have pulled out ten teeth on a child before and he did not want to leave!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like it is difficult for parents to find a provider they can trust with their child. As a parent of two little ones, I understand. There are many amazing dentists here in town. Minali Dental always welcomes new patients and treats them kindly to help make their dental visits enjoyable.
