Meet Saima Haroon of Pulmonx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saima Haroon.

Saima, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out going to dental school at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. After practicing dentistry for ten years, I decided to make a transition into a sales consultant role. I have worked for top Fortune 500 Medical Device companies where I have helped in women receive treatment for cancer, asthma and IVF. I enjoy being in the medical field and being on the forefront of modern technology to help patients receive treatment. My accolades include District Manager of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Presidents Club and Territory Manager of the Year.

I currently work for a medical device company, Pulmonx where I support Interventional Pulmonologists with performing a procedure for patients who have COPD. It is an excellent groundbreaking procedure adding quality of life to many patients. I am also expected to be a candidate for Territory Manager this year.

Additionally This year alone, I am raising two young children, managing a full-time demanding career and personally fighting cancer myself. I hope I am a true testament of what hard work and determination looks like. I also hope someone call read my story and it help inspire others to keep pushing with good spirit.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have had challenges raising two small children alone, having to be a top sales manager every year and then to battle cancer. I am so thankful for the support of my loving family, friends, colleagues, and the excellent physicians who have been there to uplift me along the way.

What were you like growing up?
I am the oldest of four children. My parents migrated here from Pakistan when I was less than a year old. My father and mother both taught me my hard and dedicated work ethic. My father worked his way up to being a business owner after moving to the states and working as a bus boy in NYC. Being the oldest of four children, I always had to be a role model and be organized because there was a certain expectation culturally and from my parents to help out more. My interest are my two children and spending time with them. I also enjoy sporting events especially basketball and the Houston Rockets.
