Meet Yaritza Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yaritza Martinez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Yaritza. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My insta account kind of came out of me procrastinating during finals my second year of college lol. I was in the middle of studying and just decided to create a page where I wanted to share my college life, places in Austin and modeling. My friend from Houston came into town and we did a photoshoot and those were the first pictures I posted, first time tagging a brand and getting resposted! Junior year I was still posting and creating content but it was a really busy time that I didn’t fully go into it and it was more of fun things with friends being posted. My senior year in college is when I finally decided to take my blogging more serious. I was able to meet many people through social media and that has been the best thing to come from it. I have also gotten amazing opportunities like being in a commercial for UT Health Austin and getting to work with Nike for the Longhorn Run which is a 5k/10k in UT Austin.

After graduation moving back to Houston and job hunting was a little crazy but I am finally settling down and am so excited for the new year. My Instagram has now shifted to health, lifestyle and beauty. I love helping others in any way I can and sharing Houston restaurants, shopping deals, healthy food and self-care products/routine. I graduated with a biology degree from the University of Texas at Austin and am hoping to work in the future in the medical field, but through blogging I was able to find a new passion and currently work in social media marketing. During my senior year of college, I worked at US Cryotherapy where I was able to provide holistic recovery and I had my first social media opportunity, I did photography for some events and created content for Instagram. Through that opportunity and blogging, I decided to look for a job opportunity in social media marketing post-grad. Still working towards the health field but taking my time.

Life is also never perfect and I like to be as real as I can with my followers! I share on Tuesday Talks what is going on in my life, the good and the bad!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, during my time in school I was not able to really do as much as I wanted with blogging. I always had homework, exams or school events, now I have more time and have created a better plan. Social media has become an amazing creative outlet for me and a place where I have created new friends. There are also times where I have a creative block. There are also times where I want to do so much but it becomes overwhelming so time management is important and also being unique and not comparing yourself to what others are accomplishing. Everyone has their own path.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I love being a space where I share about health, lifestyle and beauty. I always love trying new things and sharing it with others. Since I moved back to Houston, I have started exploring the city more and like to share with people the places I go to and try. I think everyone should pamper themself and make sure you are taking care of yourself. Life can be so hectic and people forget to worry about themselves. I share how to do self-care at home and review the products I use. I love to work out and do yoga, boxing and cycling so sometimes I share about that and always invite my followers to come workout with me. Lifestyle wise I share outfits, sales, stores that I love, local boutiques. I am a huge supporter of local business and special Latino owned. I also have a doggy and he is usually in my Instagram once a day, I share what products, places and accessories I get my pup.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is being proud of what you’re doing, being yourself and having a connection with your followers. It makes me so happy when I get a message from my followers, I feel that I am doing something right and that its all worth it.
