Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Arteaga.
Melissa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am the owner and founder of Drip Drop Juices I started juicing summer of 2018 it all began when I was going to be an unemployed and my sister had the greatest idea Of me selling juice cleanses and posting it on social media. She posted that I was going to be selling juice cleanses and if anyone was interested from that point on, I started juicing every week and some weeks over 50 people were interested in ordering.
I literally started something from nothing, it was amazing I impacted so many peoples lives and leaving a positive mark making fresh, pressed, natural juices to help them detox. I worked so much, saved up everything I made and found the perf t location in the middle of the heights/ Northside. My boyfriend Edward Garcia helped me as my right hand remodel the shop and help me bring my vision to life, after six months Drip Drop Juices was open for business, August 10, 2019. We have officially been open for a few months and let just say me getting laid off from my old job, posting I was going to start juicing and taking that leap of faith and opening my very own business by myself was the best decision I have ever made. Every day I wake up and get to do what I love, what I am passionate about and what I truly enjoy doing.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There’s a million bumps from the smallest things like having a refrigerator stop working, to a roof leak, to employees not showing up, working over 14hrs a day for 7days straight, it’s tough. Opening a business is a whole different ball game and being a boss takes a lot. But I am thankful for every bump because without them, I wouldn’t be the strong boss that I am today.
Drip Drop Juices – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Drip Drop Juices specializes of fresh, affordable juice cleanse to help cleanse and detoxify your body from harmful toxins your body is carrying. We also makes great on the go snacks with fresh fruits and vegetables.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me success is being able to open a business and have the business run independently with workers that you teach the ins and outs of the day to day process. Success means when someone says or mentions Juice, Heath or detox, they automatically think of Drip Drop Juices. I am no where where I’d like to be from a business stand point but to me I feel as if I am already successful when people walk in my business coming from over an hour away and customers mentioning to me how acquaintances have mentioned Drip Drop Juices. But honestly in order to truly be successful I feel, you (the owner) must be present working just as hard as each individual in the business. The boss leads by example and by that I have to lead my employees in the right direction and show how passionate I truly am about my business.
