Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela and Mehdi Balouchestani.
Angela and Mehdi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When our son was about two years old, we had a near-drowning experience while at a friend’s pool party.
He fell in the pool and was in the water for a few seconds before Mehdi saw him and jumped in. Swimming became a must in our household. We truly believe in swimming as a life skill and one that every child should have. When we had the opportunity to open a business, we had SwimLabs at the top of our list. Coupled with the fact that Mehdi was an avid triathlete and had completed several IRONMAN competitions throughout the years, and that our children enjoyed the sport, we decided that this was the perfect business for us. We opened SwimLabs in Sugar Land in June of 2019, and we feel a true sense of accomplishment. We are proud to serve the Sugar Land community where we have lived for over 15 years.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This project took around three years from the time we decided to start this business. From the planning stages to the build-out, there were delays along the way. Each step starting with the design process, permitting and construction took longer than anticipated. However, the final product was worth all the effort and time invested.
SwimLabs – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
It is our mission to combine state-of-the-art technology, world-class instructors, exceptional facilities, and a never-ending passion for swimming to offer the fastest and surest way for swimmers of all levels to learn, improve and achieve their highest goals. We help our swimmers be safer, compete smarter, feel confident and enjoy a life-long love of the sport. We offer swim lessons from babies to adults, competitive swimmers and triathletes. Our constant current pools have mirrors and underwater cameras, and an extensive video library featuring Olympic swimmers such as Missy Franklin and Jason Lezak, making learning to swim a visual experience.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Our success as a business is measured in our customers’ success and satisfaction. Our little swimmers learning how to float for the first time, our adult swimmers losing their fear of water, or hearing from a first-time triathlete that they competed on their first event, are only a few of the ways we see our customers succeed. On a day-to-day basis, we are looking for our customers to be happy with the services they are receiving at our facility. When they keep coming back for more classes because they see progress, is another way we know we are doing a good job.
Pricing:
