Stewart, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
H Town Incubator came out of a necessity.
Coworking spaces as they are today focus on “places that inspire” and amenities, which is nice.
But we see a great need to be filled in the entrepreneur community. As well as with contractors, freelancers, and consultants.
Most function without affordable health insurance for themselves and their families.
We sought to fulfill that needs with our insurance partners.
Through a coop we can bring members (of any group) affordable healthcare, fulfilling a big need and providing peace of mind.
We also provide business support in the form of marketing, legal, accounting, etc.
Not just access to a network but professionals who can immediately answer your questions and help your business grow.
Supporting the greater Houston community as well as folks who travel internationally into Houston are ideal for H Town Incubator. Located just a few miles from George Bush Intercontinental Airport and across the street from the Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham hotels makes this coworking space an ideal location to office.
We are about to officially launch in mid-January 2020 but already have some early starters who office with us.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far, we have been blessed with a solid infrastructure and community support. The trick will be in identifying the core group of professionals who want to office out of a place that is in between the Galleria and The Woodlands.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about H Town Incubator – what should we know?
What sets us apart as a coworking space is our ability to provide business support services, and the most attractive one is the affordable health insurance. 1 in 3 Americans are uninsured and being an entrepreneur makes health insurance affordability a greater challenge. We are seeking to eliminate that stress and provide an environment where different industries can come together and connect the dots. What do I mean by this? It has been my experience that I am able to provide powerful marketing solutions, for example, when I borrow strategies and tactics from different industries and employ them, providing a fresh new solution to that industry.
Often times, companies remain in their own box and are content with the “standard” level of success.
So much to be gained by crossing industries.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
For the coworking space to be successful, there needs to be a strong community of businesses who are given support and support one another. In the past, I have found coworking spaces, incubators, accelerators to be exclusive to a particular group. Feeling like your not welcomed staggers the potential for networking and growth.
Regardless of your business – whether your a hot tech company or a franchise plumbing company – it shouldn’t stop you from sharing your business goals, strategies, tactics, successes, or failures.
We can all learn from one another.
